  • District A4 Lions - Lions Quest
    The Centre for Positive Youth Development The mission of Lions Quest Canada The Centre for Positive Youth Development is to provide leadership knowledge and resources to develop healthy capable young people of strong character In pursuit of this mission the organization works with individuals agencies and organizations both in Canada and abroad to give Canadians access to the best possible resources and training experiences We are incorporated as Quest Life Skills Inc and we are a registered charitable organization Historically this organization has distributed and promoted the Lions Quest Program material and along the way has expanded their offerings to include products that support the implementation of the Lions Quest programs in schools and communities In an effort to make quality resources available to Canadians the organization has gradually expanded the products we make available to include parenting and community capacity building resources In 1999 Lions Quest Canada was named the Canadian partner in the International Youth Foundation network The International Youth Foundation is committed to investing in what works for children and youth and as part of that network we have been involved in projects to support that relationship including Children s Hour and Make a Connection In District A4 there are Lions Quest Community Workshops being held this spring Details for the June 13 workshop in south rural Ottawa will be distributed soon This workshop will be open to community members but will be limited to 50 participants For this and future workshops to be held within our District we need to acquire funds I am requesting that each Club within A4 donate 200 towards the A4 Lions Quest program Donations can be made payable to District A4 and on the memo line designated A4 Lions Quest and sent to the District Treasurer For more information about the

    and foster the cause of International Lionism with Multiple District A and 2 To assist in the promotion of the programs and principles of Lions Clubs International Article II Section I 3 To promote educational programs for positive youth development e g Lions Quest in our schools and or membership in a LEOs Club 4 To recognize volunteerism in our youth Scholarship Amount 500 00 Eligibility A Grade 8 student in Multiple District A Awarded to a Grade 8 student who A Exhibits good values including the following Self discipline A healthy drug free lifestyle Respect for self and others Commitment to family Service to others Responsibility Honesty Courage Kindness B Has volunteered meaningfully in local charities organizations or community based groups and demonstrated the meaning of building a caring community Nomination requirements One candidate per District in MD A submitted by the District Lions Quest Chairperson or Director of the MD A PDG s Association in that District The nomination form shall include full personal details of the nominee Note all information provided is treated as confidential The District Lions Quest chairperson or District MD A PDG Association Director shall provide details about the nominee s contributions and achievements and explain why the nominee should be selected for the award Please add any other pertinent information to support the nomination A letter of reference from the student s teacher is required Method of Selection A committee of two 2 members from the MD A Past District Governors Association the MD A Lions Quest Chair and two 2 thrive staff members shall select the winner Presentation If the student lives in the District of the annual MD A Convention the presentation will be made at the Multiple District A Past District Governors annual dinner If the above does not apply

  • District A4 Lions - Michael St. James Memorial Award
    community of Barry s Bay and worldwide through his annual trips to provide eye care to the people of Guyana and the Caribbean The criteria will focus on a club s involvement in the original goal of Lionism adopted at the Lions International Convention of 1925 to eliminate or alleviate eye disease and vision impairment throughout the world Zone Chairmen may present candidate clubs to the Region Chairmen who will submit their recommendations to the District Governor The award will be presented annually to the club in District A4 scoring the highest points using the following criteria over the period from April 1st to March 31st 1 20 points for each week that a club member spends with an eye care team outside of Canada or the USA 2 15 points for each week that a club sponsored non member spends with an eye care team outside of Canada or the USA 3 10 points for each 100 collected or donated during the annual CNIB campaign 4 10 points for each 100 pairs of glasses collected and donated 5 10 points for each club member visiting Camp St Joseph 6 10 points for each club member assisting with the annual

    as it first appears however it does require a bit of planning A successful bulletin is neat and legible and it contains a good balance of local District and International Lions activities along with personal news of members and a bit of humour It is also attractive interesting and informative An editor can publish a good bulletin without the aid of elaborate graphics or pictures but if you choose to include them in your bulletin make sure the photographs are properly scanned Poor reproductions can often have negative results The Format of an Effective Bulletin should include Complete Club Zone Region and District names Name address phone number and email address of the President Secretary and Bulletin Editor Zone and Region Chair Vice Governor and Governor Place and time of meetings The club roster The Bulletin s Body should include 1 Program Time Date and Place 2 Report on Previous meetings a brief summary of the general and board meetings 3 Report of local club activities and action of the Board of Directors Brief summary on the status of projects and relevant special events 4 Coming events at Club Region District and International levels Charter nights Special projects Social events
