    for them than entertainment Hosting periods are from 1 June 24 25 depending on flights to July 3rd 2 July 3rd to July 12th It is our intent to switch Youths at the end of each period to provide a broader experience for all Some families may only be able to Host for one of the two periods Requirements 1 Police Check will be required 2 For first session it is hoped that you will be able to meet us at the Ottawa Airport but alternate arrangements can be made if required 3 Provide your Home and meals have them cook or teach you about their food 4 Pay for any events that YOU want to take them to but remember many activities in the community are free and often provide the best cultural experiences The rest is up to you and your family You do not have to have Youth in the home the same age but if you do then it will be a mutually beneficial experience and we guarantee you he or she will be wanting to participate in the Outbound program next year or as soon as they are eligible if they are younger If you don t have Youth or even if you do we have recommendations if you are enthusiastic about getting involved with the program 1 Take two Youth they will entertain themselves and share their cultures 2 Partner with another Lion in your Community or neighboring community so that they have an opportunity to get together for outings For example last year Lions Heather Chilvers provided the Home and Kris Schultz took them to events 3 Provide the Home but have the Club be the Host Various members can host them in their backyard pools cottages or local festivals or fun days

    that is committed to creating and providing families individuals with innovative high quality and cost effective community based programs and services that promote a strong sense of well being while making a positive contribution to our culturally diversified community in Eastern Ontario ICSS is a registered charity 87814 2413 RR0001 and was incorporated in June 2001 ICSS is a transfer payment agency through the Ministry of Community and Social Services They operate eleven group homes and community programs for individuals with a developmental disability including their Sow Grow Farm located at 9478 Russell Road Navan Ontario Approximately five 5 acres of the farm has been designated for the District A4 Lions Memorial Forest and additional land is available if needed We are very pleased to also announce that Dr Roman Popadiouk from Friends of the Experimental Farm has agreed to assist on with the Memorial Forest Dr Popadiouk has several degrees in Forestry and has worked for the Ontario Government on many of their projects as well as projects at the Experimental Farm He has given us some great advice and has also offered to assist us in the placements of trees in the Memorial Forest Lion Clubs or Members and ICSS Clients or Member will be able to purchase a tree which will be planted in the Memorial Forest Requests from Lions and ICSS supporters will also be accepted The cost for a tree will be 175 00 which will cover the cost of the tree plague and maintenance of the grounds The forest will be divided into two sections One area will consist of fruit trees which will include apples pears apricot and cherries It is hoped that in the future the clients of ICSS will be able to harvest the fruits from the trees as part of

    of competition If Zone and Regional contests are held the first and second place contestants in each grade division within each language category are eligible to enter the District Contest Each District may enter the winners of each division within each language category in the Multiple District Contest CONCOURS ORATOIRES NIVEAU ZONE RÉGIONAL ET DISTRICT Le président du District décidera s il a besoin d un concours Zone ou Régional Si non tous les gagnants des préliminaires des clubs avançeront aux finales du District Des prix seront décernés à chaque classe des divisions anglaise et française à chaque étape de la compétition Si un concours Zone et Régional ont lieu les premiers et deuxièmes gagnants de chaque classe de la division anglaise et française seront éligible à s enregistrer pour le concours du District Chaque District peut enregistrer les gagnants de chaque classe des divisions anglaise et française au concours du District Multiple MULTIPLE DISTRICT LEVEL EFFECTIVE SPEAKING CONTEST The Multiple District Effective Speaking Contest will be held each year on the first Saturday of May at a place selected by the Multiple District Committee from invitations received from Clubs wishing to host this Contest If possible it shall be held in a different District each year The Multiple District Effective Speaking Chair will be in charge of this contest and with his her committee shall conduct it in accordance with the rules and regulations as outlined A contestant attending the Multiple District Effective Speaking Contest must be accompanied by a Lion member of the District which he or she represents and a parent and or guardian The sponsoring Lions Club and or the District shall be responsible for paying all expenses of an authorized contestant There will be preliminary contests to select the three 3 best contestants in each category The first place winning contestants only will speak at the evening banquet CONCOURS ORATOIRE AU NIVEAU DISTRICT MULTIPLE Le concours oratoire du District Multiple aura lieu le premier samedi du moi de mai chaque année dans un local choisi par le comité du District multiple après réception des demandes des clubs désirant organiser ce concours Il serait préférable que le concours ait lieu dans un différent District chaque année si possible Le président du concours oratoire District multiple et son comité on charge de ce concours et doivent s assurer que les règles ci inclus soient respectées Un concurant enrégistré dans le concours oratoire du District multiple doit être accompagné par un membre Lions ou Lionnes du District parraineur et aussi d un parent ou d un gardien Le Club parrain ou le District devront assumer le coût des dépenses du concurrant enrégistré Un concours préliminaire aura lieu pour déterminer les trois 3 meilleurs orateurs de chaque catégories Les gagnants en première place seulement parleront lors du banquet This last paragraph above needs to be correctly translated INSTRUCTIONS FOR JUDGING It is suggested that in each of the Club Zone Regional and District Contests at least three 3 and in the Multiple District Final contest at least five 5 qualified and impartial judges for each grade division within each language category shall decide the winners according to the marking scheme on the score sheet It is recommended that no judge shall be a member of a sponsoring Lions or Lioness Club or a member of any school faculty having a contestant entered in that particular contest Judges shall be seated apart and have no communication with each other during the contest Judges shall total their score sheets Two 2 or three 3 tellers will tally the totals and designate the places earned by the speakers on each judge score sheet 1 st 2 nd 3 rd etc When this has been done the tellers will add the total place points for each speaker and the one who has earned the most first place points shall be declared the winner In the event of a tie of first place point winners the tellers will then total the place points and the contestant with the lowest total place points will be declared the winner In the event of a tie with the same number of place points the tie shall be settled by adding the points of the tied speakers and the one with the highest total shall be declared the winner of the contest The judges scoring will be final and beyond question INSTRUCTIONS POUR LES JUGES Il est recomendé qu au moins trois 3 juges qualifiés et impartiels soient choisi pour juger les orateurs au niveau Club Zone Régional et District Pour les finales un minimum de cinq 5 juges qualifiés choisiront les gagnants suivant les normes des critères établis Il est recomendé qu aucun juge soit membre d un Club Lions ou Lionnes parrainant ou d un membre d une faculté scolaire ou l étudiant est enrégistré Les juges devront être séparé et ne doivent avoir aucun échanges durant le concours Les juges devront calculer les points sur les feuilles de pointage Deux 2 ou trois 3 cassiers vérifieront les feuilles des juges pour déterminer le rang des orateurs 1 2 3 etc sur chaque feuille de pointage des juges Les caissiers additioneront ensuite le nombre de première place mérité par chaque orateur et l orateur qui aurait le plus grand nombre de première place sera déclaré gagnant Si aucune majorité de première place existe les caissiers additionneront les points totaux accordés pour chaque rangs et l orateur qui aura le plus bas total de points sera déclaré gagnant En cas d égalité sur cause de même nombre de points le gagnant sera
