    Information Project CAMIP January 2006 October 2009 Sector Agriculture and Agribusiness Region South East Asia and Pacific This project is designed to improve the agricultural market information system and capacity to provide useful market intelligence to farmers and agribusiness Improvements in the collection analysis and dissemination of agricultural market information will be linked to initiatives around grading and the production of higher valued crops These initiatives will work with existing commodity organizations where possible in the development of grading systems and with farm organizations at the community level Key project activities include improvement upgrading and expansion of existing agriculture market information systems including hardware and software infrastructure data collection and data processing upgrading national government capacity in market analysis and provision of market intelligence upgrading both government non government and private extension providers capacity to produce and disseminate agriculture market information to producers and marketers and increased farmer understanding of agriculture market information and application to farm activities through development of community farm organizations and lead farmers using Farmer Field School methodologies Republic of the Philippines Private Enterprise Accelerated Resources Linkages Project Phase 2 PEARL2 January 2002 November 2008 Sector Private Sector Development Region South East Asia and Pacific PEARL2 supports the development of small and medium enterprises SMEs to create a meaningful jobs for both men and women in the Philippines The principal clients are Business Support Organizations BSOs and Investment Promotion Agencies IPAs PEARL2 is a five year project with a budget of approximately C 8 6 million provided by the Canadian International Development Agency in conjunction with the Department of Trade and Industry DTI and National Economic Development Authority Republic of the Philippines Mindanao and Western Visayas Philippines Canada Local Government Support Program Phase II LGSP II August 1999 November 2006 Sector Governance and Public Sector Reform Region South East Asia and Pacific LGSP II worked with Department of Interior and Local Government DILG at the national regional and provincial levels along with partners in municipalities to develop skills in economic development planning legislative agenda setting and policy analysis development implementation and enforcement LGSP II supported more than 200 municipalities in numerous sectors including agriculture natural resources management enterprise development watershed management and water supply and sanitation Municipalities were also supported in improving access to and or quality of services for citizens and increasing the involvement of civil society organizations and citizens in governance activities and in local bodies such as health boards education boards bids and awards committees and local planning councils LGSP was CIDA s flagship governance program in the Philippines and in 2003 it was selected by CIDA as a model capacity development project for its success in developing local governance capacity Multiple Countries Project Implementation Planning Mission for the Canada Asia Regional Emerging Infections Diseases January 2005 January 2006 Sector Health and Population Region South Asia South East Asia and Pacific Agriteam worked with CIDA and the Public Health Agency of Canada to plan the implementation of the Canada Asia Regional Emerging Infections

    2006 January 2011 Sector Health and Population Region Sub Saharan Africa This is a capacity development project with a critical role to play in assisting the Government of Nigeria GON to improve the efficiency effectiveness quality and accessibility of its PHC programs and services and to improve the health of Nigerians The project aims to create sustainable replicable models for improved PHC provision in Bauchi and Cross River States Ghana Eastern Corridor Districts of the Northern Region Community Driven Initiatives for Food Security CIFS April 2004 October 2010 Sector Governance and Public Sector Reform Region Sub Saharan Africa The Community Driven Initiatives for Food Security CIFS project in Ghana is a CIDA sponsored project facilitated by Agriteam and CARE Canada It has two main components and is being implemented over a six year period 2004 2010 Component I represents the activities and facilitation of the Canadian Coordinating Agency Component II represents budgetary support to the Government of Ghana to be made available to the districts for implementation of project related food security initiatives This supports the project goal a sustainable increase in food security in northern Ghana CIFS was designed to strengthen both communities and local governments at the district and sub district levels as well as other government and non governmental resources that are relied upon for technical assistance related to community driven development and food security CIFS emphasizes community capacity building to identify prioritize and plan for effective food security initiatives Lilongwe Malawi Canada Malawi Government Assistance Project GAP January 2001 March 2009 Sector Governance and Public Sector Reform Region Sub Saharan Africa GAP supports institutional development of Malawian public sector agencies by providing technical support and assistance to specific ministries in the key areas of education health water supply and gender equality Through a responsive funding mechanism Agriteam supports Malawian government partners to identify their own critical capacity needs and design results based initiatives to address those needs Agriteam then facilitates access to Canadian and African technical assistance and capacity development providers to meet these needs Additionally the project supports public sector institutions to develop HIV AIDS strategies and assists partners to mainstream gender equality into all initiatives GAP is a flexible demand driven and participatory mechanism that provides strategic interventions that are in line with the priorities of departments ministries It focuses on results oriented high impact low cost initiatives that lead directly to improved human resource development management and more efficient effective equitable and transparent delivery of services Examples of successful initiatives supported by GAP include a country financial accountability assessment with the Ministry of Finance strategic planning with every ministry and key department gender budgeting with the Ministry of Gender Youth and Community Services and leadership development with the Ministry of Human Resource Management and Development Ghana Ghana Farmer Responsive Mechanism in Extension and Research in association with CHF 2002 2007 December 2002 December 2007 Sector Governance and Public Sector Reform Region Sub Saharan Africa Tanzania Canada s Assistance to the District Based Support

    are equally respected and appreciated as national and official languages of the country The project s ultimate outcome is increased respect for language diversity and language rights within the public service and among the citizenry The intermediate outcomes are Enhanced public sector leadership of national languages policies and programs and Increased citizens access to public communications and services in the national language of choice The project is being implemented using a capacity building approach and is articulated around four major components Component 1 Strengthening the Ministry of National Languages and Social Integration Activities within this component of the project are designed to increase capacity including capacity for gender mainstreaming of the Ministry to plan manage and monitor implementation of Official Languages Policy and other policies and programs related to their mandate Support is provided to the Ministry through its National Languages Division the Department of Official Languages the Official Languages Commission and the National Institute for Language Education and Training Component 2 Public Engagement Activities within this component of the project are increasing awareness about and support for language rights bilingualism and linguistic diversity among the public that influences policy makers Support is provided to civil society organizations that are undertaking initiatives to promote support and advocate for language rights bilingualism trilingualism and social cohesion and which strengthen government civil society cooperation Component 3 Translation and Interpretation Services Activities within this component of the project enhance delivery of translation and interpretation services and of translator and interpreter training programs Support is provided to both government bodies and academic institutions Component 4 Innovative Models of Local Service Delivery Activities within this component are designed to develop innovative models of good practice in language policy implementation and promotion of language rights and social cohesion at the community level Communities are selected from

    rehabilitation and reintegration into their communities The project s ultimate outcome is a more effective and responsive juvenile justice system in Ukraine one which is in line with international standards The project is implemented using a capacity building approach and provides learning opportunities and technical assistance for collaborative policy and legislation development at the national level increased knowledge and capacity of public institutions and community actors involved in youth justice and strengthened delivery of effective and gender responsive juvenile justice programs practices and services that support rehabilitation and reintegration of young persons who come into conflict with the law The project is structured around three main components National Focus This component aims to develop a legislative and policy framework to support a criminal justice system for minors Judiciary and Other Stakeholders Capacity Building This component aims to strengthen the capacity of courts and other juvenile justice agencies to apply effective and responsive approaches and best practices to support rehabilitation and prevention of future offences while upholding the rights of children and youth in conflict with the law Regional Focus This component is creating models of improved juvenile justice approaches in two pilot locations in Ukraine in order to better understand
