  • Speech-Language Pathology
    team to help individuals of all ages communicate effectively Their role is to identify assess evaluate treat manage educate and help to prevent language speech voice fluency cognitive and other related communication disorders as well as swallowing problems These difficulties may be caused by a number of health problems such as delayed development learning disabilities Autism Spectrum Disorders genetic disorders or hearing loss The Arnprior Regional Health speech language pathologist currently provides service to preschoolers and their families Referrals to the speech language pathologist are made through the Community Care Access Centre CCAC Sprouting Speech Program The service is part of a province wide funding initiative to make it easier for parents to seek speech language pathology treatment for a child who may be slow to talk have difficulty understanding what is being said is stuttering is hard of hearing or is not understood by others When a parent comes to the hospital with a child who is having difficulty the speech language pathologist will assess the child this may take two to three sessions coach or help the parent learn strategies to stimulate effective communication outline a home program and may develop individual and or group therapy sessions During the initial assessment the following will be evaluated the child s behaviour play skills receptive language comprehension expressive language articulation and phonology use of speech sounds pragmatic skills the social use of language voice fluency and oral motor structure and function To make a referral to the program Renfrew County parents who want a speech language assessment for their preschooler can contact CCAC Sprouting Speech at 1 613 732 7007 ext 5905 and ask to speak with Ginger Goldberg Boucher Intake Assistant for the Preschool Speech and Language program toll free 1 866 994 8124 ext 5905 The speech language

  • Transfusion Clinic
    Would it surprise you to know that at Arnprior Regional Health we use on average about 25 units of blood per week There are two clinical areas responsible for blood utilization the emergency department and the Medical Day Program a program implemented this past year Through the emergency department blood is used for many reasons Patients receiving blood can be due to low platelets in cancer patients victims of motor vehicle accidents injuries resulting in a loss of blood and many other critical situations Patients on route to a larger trauma centre may receive blood in the ambulance These are the unforeseen or unplanned uses of blood The Medical Day Program began in October 2011 and runs each Wednesday The Medical Day Program is for patients requiring procedures such as blood transfusions IVIG Albumin Iron Infusions Pamidronate and phlebotomy These procedures were previously done in the emergency department as it was necessary for patients to be monitored the entire time by a registered nurse While our new Emergency Department is a much improved space than before it is nicer for patients to have a room dedicated to their specific procedures Depending on the procedure required it can take anywhere from one to seven hours The Medical Day Program is of great benefit to our patients Dedicated appointment times away from the rush of the emergency department help facilitate access to day procedures in a timely manner said Dr Jennifer Rivington Francis has been coming into ARH since March 2012 Prior to using the services here at ARH his son would take time off work and drive him to one of the hospitals in the city On the days his son was unavailable to take him Francis would rely on Seniors at Home to get him to the hospital Francis requires

    President Medical Staff Christina Fiedorowicz Douglas Kromrey Bernice O Connor ARH Auxiliary Jerome Taylor ARH Board of Directors Accountability Statement Bylaws Corporate Bylaws Professional Bylaw Board of Directors Meetings The meetings of the Board of Directors of Arnprior Regional Health ARH are open to the people in our community staff physicians volunteers media and any other interested people As a public organization we are committed to open and full accountability This initiative is one way in which we hope to demonstrate our commitment to ensure communication with our community With occasional exceptions Board meetings are held at 7 00 pm on the third Thursday of each month in the Hospital Board Room from September to June All meetings include an in camera session during each meeting that is attended by Board Members only Guests will be asked to leave for this portion of the meeting Videotape recording equipment and cameras are not permitted at Board meetings Public agendas for regular meetings of the Board of Directors will be posted on the Events Calendar of the ARH website and will be available on or after the Friday preceding the meeting date While we encourage all members of the public to attend Board meetings we ask that you register with the Board Secretary by calling 613 623 3166 x221 to indicate your plan to attend to ensure adequate space and seating Attendees may participate in Board meetings as observers but may not speak at Board meetings unless invited to do so by the Board Chair Should any individual or group wish to make a presentation to the Board a letter outlining the nature of their request should be sent to the Board Office at least 10 working days prior to the meeting The request will be considered by the Board Chair and

    PDF 1 996Kb A rnprior Regional Health includes a dynamic rural hospital and a vibrant long term care LTC facility and rapidly expanding assisted living services With an aging population and a healthcare system in the midst of significant transformation the organization must take proactive steps to ensure that the corporation is positioned to be an effective health service provider in today s evolving health system It will need to make choices in how and what services we will provide and which processes can be further refined to create a better patient resident client experience In addition the organization must continue to effectively respond to increasing needs for accountability in areas such as quality of care and achieving a balanced budget The 2013 strategic plan outlines strategic themes and goals the corporation will need to achieve as it participates in the transformation of the provision of health services within the Champlain Local Health Integrated Network LHIN This document will support and inform key decisions such as Patient resident client experiences Focuses required in operational effectiveness Priorities with respect to patient resident client safety and quality of care Health System Integration and Staff engagement To achieve the strategic goals identified in this report management will develop annual goals with corresponding specific measures and related targets The Board of Directors will provide a mix of foresight oversight or ongoing insight with respect to the implementation and monitoring of the strategic goals Corporate Goals 2015 2016 Experience 50 of Emergency Department Patients will rate their care as excellent Quality Achieve one strategy to reduce the number of patients with mental health issues who return to the emergency department within 30 days 13 6 or less of residents will have had a fall in the last 30 days 13 6 or less of residents
