    and staff within the Division SCHOOL MISSION STATEMENT To educate students with the skills to be responsible contributing adults with a positive attitude for life and learning aquired in a safe and secure environment In the 2006 2007 school year the staff of Boissevain School decided to embrace the 4 Pillars from Sandra Dean s Together We Light the Way program The 4 pillars Respect Academic Teamwork and Leadership form the framework for our activities at Boissevain School The 4 pillars also form the basis of our school improvement plan activities The Respect pillar is a key to the culture of our school and is the essence of the Bronco Spirit Our school wide respect agreement was created with input from staff and students It consists of the following 5 statements We interact respectfully We respect ourselves and others We focus on the positive We respect property We do our best School Goals To ensure that students and staff operate within a safe and secure environment To provide an opportunity for students to realize their academic potential Staff will receive training and development to meet Manitoba Education requirements To communicate effectively with staff students parents and community To foster and develop a positive school climate School Priorities for 2008 2009 I Academic 1 Strive for high standards of work across the curriculum a Improve learning through differentiated instruction and effective assessment practices b Promote numeracy in K 8 2 Explore and put into practice ways to maintain or enhance our current level of programming K 12 in light of declining enrolment a Plan changes to high school program in a move towards continuous self directed learning SDL b Investigate and learn about effective multi level learning in K 8 II Respect 1 Apply and reinforce the school wide respect agreements

  • Connections Introduction
    attempting to connect the curriculum to jobs and the community Several staff visited schools as far away as Alberta as they attempted to refine their idea In the fall of 1995 the first Connections Project was launched The goals they established have remained unchanged The Connections Project has given Boissevain Collegiate students a chance to work on a project that connects multiple disciplines and is a practical topic of real

  • Boissevain School Recycling Project
    school year The grant is to be used to enhance the recycling program by replacing collection buckets The project is made up of grade three and four students as well as many volunteer parents and is run by three teachers in our school This project has been very successful in our community and has allowed our students to be more responsible for doing their part in keeping our environment clean

  • Connections Goals
    1 Each student in grades 9 12 in the high school will develop a project which will cross at least two disciplines The project will count for credit in two 2 courses With permission from a subject teacher and the administration grade 12 students may design a project related to one discipline 2 Students may work individually or in a group of two 2 Each student will submit a proposal

  • Connections Guidelines
    students presence at the site stipulated 3 The project will be worth the same amount as a major assignment in each course 5 10 of final grade 4 The project cannot replace poor marks 5 Plagiarism of work will result in a mark of zero on the project 5 Connections Fair Projects will be presented at a Connections Fair Students will set up projects as displays with backboards if applicable VCR s posters etc Staff will initiate the evaluation of projects during the day of the fair Parents senior administration trustees community members and the media will be notified via letters newspaper etc 6 Teacher advisors will help students in their group choose projects Students will submit their proposals to their advisors It will be the responsibility of the advisor to make sure all students have submitted proposals 7 Cross grade groups allowed for consecutive grades only 8 Completed Log Books One per group must be included in order to receive a mark If a log book is considered unsatisfactory an Incomplete will be given on the project Log Books should be in a duo tang be hand written and will include a copy of the proposal logbook sheets research

    April 23rd afternoon May 7th all day Timetabled classes cancelled and students work on Connections projects May 14 2014 all day Projects completed and submitted Connections Fair held CONNECTIONS FAIR 9 00 10 00 am set up projects 10 00 11 00 am Grades 9 10 at projects 11 00 12 00 pm Grades 11 12 at projects 12 00 1 00 pm lunch 1 00 3 00 pm students
