    workplace issues and the need for us to continue our on going fight to achieve respect and the working conditions that we deserve from CBSA and the Harper government Also a larger National Bargaining Team was elected for this round of bargaining and both CIU National President JP Fortin and PSAC National President Robyn Benson pledged to dedicate all resources necessary to make gains and to defend our hard fought collective agreement rights in the coming round of bargaining including our sick leave provisions Agreement to be signed March 17 PSAC representatives spoke again with Treasury Board last week concerning the signing of our agreement and expressed frustration at the delay Our union proposed dates for the signing in late February and early March The Treasury Board responded with confirming March 17th as the date for the parties to sign our agreement pending the presentation of the parties agreement to cabinet We are therefore scheduled to meet March 17th for signing In the meantime we ve been in contact with CBSA to ensure that the calculation for retroactivity cheques is underway CBSA has confirmed that this is the case Members severance for the purposes of voluntary termination continues to accrue

    demands that will have been submitted by January 30th for next round of negotiations The National Bargaining Conference will take place at the Westin Hotel in Ottawa from February 13 to 16 2014 CIU is entitled to a total of 39 delegates 30 of which are Board members Discussions will be take place in the coming days between myself Brother Moran Committee Chair and PSAC representatives to determine how to proceed with the selection of the remaining 9 delegates We will keep you informed As stated in Section 1 a of CIU Board Regulation 13 The FB Bargaining Team shall be elected at the CIU NBOD meeting immediately prior to a 4 month Notice to Bargain deadline It was impossible to hold such an election during CIU s September 2013 NBoD because the Team in place had not yet completed its mandate This election will therefore be held during a special CIU NBoD meeting which I am calling as per By Law 12 Section 2 b The precise time and date are to be determined but the PSAC will provide us with a meeting room at the Westin Hotel during the Bargaining Conference so this election can take place This

  • Tentative FB Agreement Reached with Treasury Board | Customs and Immigration Union
    a lump sum one time payment of five hundred dollars at the date of signing This means that all employees in the FB bargaining unit shall receive one thousand seven hundred and fifty dollars in 2013 on top of annual wage increases Seniority shall now be recognized for all shift workers working under both VSSA and non VSSA schedules Seniority shall now be recognized for all workers both shift and non shift worker for the purposes of vacation scheduling Protections in the context of the arming initiative including an obligation on the part of the employer to make every reasonable effort to find placement opportunity for employees not hired with firearms as a condition of employment that are unsuccessful on firearm certification as well as new joint union management committees to discuss firearm participant selection and placement Bereavement leave shall now be seven consecutive days instead of five Employees may now use a maximum of 7 5 hours of Family Related Responsibility Leave for school functions legal appointments and emergency child care Consistent with all other Treasury Board settlements this tentative agreement includes the deletion of the severance provisions for employees who quit or retire Under the new tentative agreement severance will still be paid if you are laid off but would otherwise no longer accumulate Any monies currently owing to you under the existing severance provisions would be paid out or may be banked for future use Employees shall continue to accumulate severance until the official signing of the collective agreement No other Treasury Board group held out as long as the FB Bargaining team did to maintain our severance benefit or to get something in exchange which we did This agreement is consistent with settlements reached by other federal law enforcement workers and maintains the wage parity that

  • Parties to return to the FB bargaining table on Monday | Customs and Immigration Union
    day members in locations across Canada participated in a Day of Action to demonstrate to the employer that we deserve better On October 15th PSAC National President Robyn Benson and CIU National President Jean Pierre Fortin met with Treasury Board President Tony Clement to discuss the situation and to reiterate our call for a fair contract In the wake of both that meeting and last week s demonstrations the parties will be returning to the bargaining table on Monday to resume negotiations Our hope is that the employer will finally be prepared to settle on a contract that is fair for FB workers and is nothing less than what has been agreed to for other federal enforcement agency workers Union pushing for immediate ESA talks For the past several years our union has been wrangling with CBSA over designations in an effort to achieve Essential Services Agreements These agreements determine essential work which must continue to be carried out in the event of a legal job action The PSAC has contacted CBSA and Treasury Board to set meeting dates in the immediate future in an effort to finalize all ESAs Congrats to all who participated last week There will be
