    if they were treated as a person worthy ofrespect and dignity and not just a number Do you feel like just a number in our church If so we want to change that Strong vibrant ministry nurtures people When people receive good ministry they feel cared for and loved There is a documented link between customers parishioners who are satisfied with the level of service and the ir coming back for more If you feel welcome and part of the parish you are more inclined to attend Mass on a regular basis People come to church because they have a need Our ministry is to respond to that need to be a presence of Christ to them to be the light of Christ Christ the Redeemer offers one stop shopping You want liturgy we have mass times for you Just had a baby we have a sacrament for that Like to eat we have lots of socials with great food In love we want to celebrate that Mourning a loss we want to grieve with you and offer you hope If I took my car to a garage for servicing I d feel uncomfortable out of place out of my element I don t understand my vehicle well enough nor the tools needed for servicing When people come into our parish they may feel the same way They may be a little embarrassed they haven t been to church much they don t know anyone they feel out of their comfort zone When parents bring their children to celebrate first Eucharist or confirmation often one of the parents is non Catholic I can only imagine they feel out of place The golden rule of customer service is based on the teaching of Jesus do unto others as you would have

  • Social Chairperson - Christ The Redeemer Roman Catholic Parish of Swift Current
    choice to help out the Social Committee That first year I did start out slowing by baking a few pies for our Fall Supper It was soon after that Ben and I began to volunteer as occasional hosts for the Sunday morning coffee and doughnuts after the 9 00 a m Mass Over time I wanted to and w as able to offer more of my time to the committee and now I am serving as the Social Chairperson What does the Social Committee do We help to foster fellowship within our community This is accomplished by coordinating many of the following activities within Christ the Redeemer Parish This list includes Organizing Sunday morning coffee hosts for after the 9 00 a m Mass The celebration after the Easter Vigil Mass for the RCIA candidates Graduation Mass Celebration Parish Picnics Fall Supper Social after the All Souls Mass Organizing many of the Parish Pancake Breakfasts I have found that my participation in these events has strengthened my faith helped out the Parish I consider my home and the allowed me to gain many new friends I con sider the donation of my time and talent as small when compared to

    seasons of the church year such as Advent Christmas Lent Easter Pentecost and ordinary time Through the sacristans altar servers and the ministers that enrich every Mass with their service and preparation Through catechesis like the Children s liturgy and the Bible Study groups which give us a better understanding of our faith Being a part of the liturgy planning helps me to appreciate my Catholic faith Another benefit of involvement in any ministry is getting know different people in our church family Greeting parishioners before Mass is a step out of my comfort zone but it helps me participate in being a welcoming part of the parish Planning for feasts and seasons of the church year teaches me about the rich traditions in our celebrations When I help the décor group put their creative ideas into place the seasonal church celebrations take on new meaning Attending the Bible study helps me to apply the scriptures to my life and they take on more meaning when I hear the passages read at Mass My involvement with the liturgy committee is fulfilling because it helps me grow in my faith and participate in the life of the church Wednesday February 25

  • Social Justice Chair - Christ The Redeemer Roman Catholic Parish of Swift Current
    Justice work is based on Scripture and the Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy Some of the things we are involved in at our parish are providing food clothing and household items to any persons who are in need of them We host a monthly afternoon social for our seniors visit some of the sick and shut ins and sometimes only provide compassion and a listening ear In the larger community we work with the Newcomers Welcome Centre and the new Youth Centre With the help of a few ladies book bags are being made for the Literacy group at the local College We support the mission work of Fr Roland Dubourt through your donations of pennies and loose change to help in building a church at his new Mission We support the Mission School at Brabant Lake in Northern Saskatchewan as well as our own Catholic schools through the Breakfast for Learning program We promote the Fall Education and Share Lent programs of Development and Peace as well as collect used stamps which assist them in providing funds to their partners in other parts of the world We also promote and support the sanctity of all human life from
