    of Royal Alberta Museum Society FRAMS assists the Royal Alberta Museum with the collection preservation and interpretation of the heritage of Alberta and in bringing the world to Albertans and visitors The Friends of Royal Alberta Museum Society FRAMS is a registered charity and not for profit organization made up of a volunteer Board of Directors and general members The Society was established in 1982 by citizens concerned about maintaining a high level of public support for the Royal Alberta Museum in Edmonton Canada The Friends of Royal Alberta Museum Society is involved in fundraising and friend raising public and school programs maintaining artifacts and expanding collections in support of the Royal Alberta Museum MISSION The FRAMS will support and enhance the objectives and activities of the Royal Alberta Museum through a mutually beneficial relationship This relationship will focus on Building support for the Royal Alberta Museum in the community by increasing FRAMS visibility Financially supporting education access and other core programs of the Royal Alberta Museum and Maintaining and stregthening liaison with the community by providing input advice and guidance The Friends of Royal Alberta Museum Society is registered with Canada Revenue Agency and all donations are tax deductible

    of Royal Alberta Museum Society FRAMS supported the following Museum acquisitions and projects Milton and Cheadle Plate Over the Mountain near Jasper House circa 1867 was purchased for the Museum on the occasion of FRAMS 30th anniversary in 2012 Sunwapta Totem Pole conservation project with support from Edmonton Community Foundation in 2011 Pelicans Diorama in the new Wild Alberta Gallery Robert Bell Collection for the Syncrude Gallery of Aboriginal Culture Columbian Mammoth hybrid cast was purchased for the Natural History Gallery on the occasion of the Museum s 25th birthday in 1992 Discovery Room Since 2009 the Friends of Royal Alberta Museum Society FRAMS has been a major sponsor of the Discovery Room This innovative educational program gives teachers from kindergarten to grade 2 the opportunity to bring their students into the Royal Alberta Museum for hands on learning During the school year approximately 8 900 Alberta students including home schooled children visit the Discovery Room The Discovery Room is also open to public visitors GO Program Initiated in April 2004 the GO Program provides complimentary Museum day passes to Alberta families and individuals who because of financial challenges are not normally able to visit the Museum The Friends of Royal Alberta Museum Society FRAMS works with social service agencies in Greater Edmonton to ensure this program s success Aboriginal Summer Internship Program This highly successful program for indigenous students has operated as a partnership among the Friends of Royal Alberta Museum Society FRAMS National Aboriginal Achievement Foundation now known as Indspire Syncrude Canada Ltd and the Royal Alberta Museum since 1998 Two 15 week summer internships at the Royal Alberta Museum are offered to First Nations Inuit and Metis students who are pursuing careers in native studies natural history or Canadian history The Bug Room Contributions from the Friends

    Sandford renowned author and water expert Collaborated with the Royal Alberta Museum and former CFRN television employees to acquire the Sunwapta Totem Pole for conservation Introduced a Gift Membership program and increased awareness of FRAMS through social media Facebook and Twitter FRAMS volunteers worked its third fundraising casino generating 80 989 in revenue from the Alberta Lottery Fund to be allocated to charitable programs over two years including the Discovery Room educational programs 2009 2010 Approved new Master Cooperating Agreement with Government of Alberta to March 31 2012 later extended to March 31 2013 FRAMS became the major sponsor of the Museum s Discovery Room educational programs Hosted the Diamonds special event Friend raiser on November 12 2009 A record 501 people attended the annual Museum Appreciation Night 2008 09 During the summers of 2008 and 2009 the Society sponsored the first ever summer camps at the Royal Alberta Museum Funding was made possible by a Community Initiatives Program CIP grant FRAMS was the major sponsor of Museum School for the second consecutive year Introduced Inside Info Talk and Tour a new curator led tour series for FRAMS members and their guests Launched the Friends Notes E news distribution Published new membership brochures bookmarks and other promotional material to strengthen the FRAMS brand FRAMS volunteers worked its second fundraising casino generating 71 673 in proceeds from the Alberta Lottery Fund to be allocated to charitable programs over two years FRAMS became a member of AAFRE the Alberta Association of Fund Raising Executives 2007 08 Development of a dedicated website www framsociety ca for FRAMS Celebration of FRAMS 25th anniversary and Royal Alberta Museum s 40th year FRAMS accepted a 1 25 million leadership gift from the Forest Resource Improvement Association of Alberta FRIAA in support of the Wild Alberta Gallery In 2007 the Society became the major sponsor of the Museum School educational program which opened in 2001 A new Fund Development Manual was prepared by the Society 2006 07 The Society sponsored the exhibit opening for the Museum s new Southesk Collection A new membership brochure for the Society was published FRAMS hosted a Friends Wine Tasting Evening friend raiser event FRAMS volunteers worked its first fundraising casino generating 75 101 in proceeds from the Alberta Lottery Fund to be allocated to charitable programs over two years 2005 06 The Society approved a new five year Strategic Plan in conjunction with the Project Renewal announcement for the Museum as a provincial Centennial 2005 legacy project Name of the Society was changed from Friends of the Provincial Museum of Alberta Society to Friends of Royal Alberta Museum Society FRAMS TD Canada Trust contributed 1 000 towards the Society s GO Program Board members Friends Museum staff and relatives raised over 1 500 with their participation in the Great Human Race May 24 2005 The Provincial Museum of Alberta is designated Royal Alberta Museum by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in commemoration of the province s Centennial 2004 05 Committee structure
