    Hour Activities Online Safety Sports Scores Standings Useful Links Our School Home Our School We re All About Kids is a motto that resonates throughout Gibbons School on a daily basis It is the keystone to every student centred activity that goes on here Welcoming students from Grades 5 to 9 we are a busy school serving the Town of Gibbons and surrounding rural area Gibbons School has a strong academic program in addition to an award winning music program and a range of dynamic options for complementary courses The school is inclusive where student programming is based on a student s strengths and abilities We pride ourselves on meeting the needs of all students In all programs and extracurricular activities we imbed values of service learning character education showing respect and responsibility and making someone else s day better We have a long legacy of supporting the community through various volunteer and fundraising activities In particular students have a special connection to supporting the Stollery Children s Hospital and Make a Wish Foundation Our successful sports teams promote participation and skill development while daily intramural programs encourage students to explore new activities and use their personal strengths to help

    parental phone call to the school as to the reason and date of the absence is also acceptable When no call is made to the school the Automated Attendance Call Out via PowerSchool will contact the parent guardian to determine the reason for the absence Students who have an appointment or are being picked up by a parent guardian must sign out at the office and in upon their return if this occurs during the school day Verbal or written permission by a parent guardian must be provided when signing out All students are expected to remain on the school grounds throughout the school day unless attending an appointment and follow the procedure noted in point 2 above as we operate as a closed campus Classes are sometimes affected by field trips on specific core or complementary subjects Even though some students may be away from school for a field trip regular classes are held and it is the responsibility of all other students to be in attendance Students are accountable for any assignments work etc missed during absences In extreme cases chronic attendance concerns may result in the school recommending involvement of the Attendance Board Being Late Students must

    be used during school hours If brought to school these items are not the responsibility of the school and they must be stored securely in the student s locker upon arrival at school and throughout the school day Cell phones must be turned off during class time Students may use their cell phone during lunch recess time 12 30 p m to 12 55 p m Lost stolen cell phones are not the responsibility of the school iPods MP 3 players gaming devices etc are allowed to be used at recess times only These items are not the responsibility of the school Students are to walk quietly and safely to and from all activities Avoid the use of profane language and the use of inappropriate gestures Be in classrooms during regular class times on time and leave only with teacher s permission Bring all required materials to class including student agenda and ensure that all supplies are replaced as needed Keep school desks lockers and classrooms in good order Report acts of vandalism damage and criminal acts to the office Items which can be viewed as a weapon or are deemed to be weapons under the Criminal Code are prohibited
