    by the very best of ecumenical traditions found within the historic Christian Church We believe God s grace is made known through the proclamation of the scripture as it is preached and taught on Sunday and throughout the week We also believe in conjunction with the Word that the sacraments of Baptism and Holy Communion are a means of grace and vital to the life of each member and adherent in the congregation Philip Lee Minister Emeritus Rev Dr Philip Lee Grace Presbyterian Church has a short history we have been together as a new congregation for only two years However our real story our heritage goes back one hundred and seventy four years Our founding congregations St Stephen St John and St Matthew s have each supplied us with particular strengths St Stephen founded in 1836 as a mission Kirk of the Church of Scotland has endowed us with a profound appreciation of liturgy Worship the Lord in the Beauty of Holiness St John founded in 1843 by Irish Presbyterians has bequeathed to us a strong Christ centered ministry Christ of All My Hopes the Ground St Matthew s founded in the North End of the City in 1898

    Matthew s and St John and St Stephen amalgamated in 2008 John has served on various Synod Committees as a member and convener such as Personnel and Camp Geddie John is a former Moderator of The Synod of The Atlantic Provinces 135 Annual Meeting and is currently Convener of the Synod Council John s community involvements and passions include serving as a board member of The John Howard Society of Saint John and New Directions of Saint John He is also Padre of Branch 55 Royal Canadian Legion in Rothesay New Brunswick John also has a passion for Scottish history theology and genealogy and is a member of The Saint Andrew s Society of Saint John and in his free time he is an avid fisherman and Class II Guide He enjoys any opportunity to fish for trout and salmon in the streams rivers and lakes of New Brunswick Rev Dr Philip Lee Minister Emeritus Philip Lee was born in Nashville Tennessee and raised in Tampa Florida He graduated from Davidson College in 1954 and then studied at Princeton Theological Seminary from 1954 1956 He transferred to Harvard Divinity School for his last year of Seminary and graduated from there in 1957 In 1958 he married Roberta Williams and they have two sons two daughters and seven grandchildren He and his family moved to Canada in 1969 and became Canadian citizens in 1974 Philip was ordained in 1957 in Brooksville Florida where he served as pastor of the First Presbyterian Church until 1960 He served as Presbyterian Chaplain at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill from 1960 1962 and then at the Boyds Presbyterian Church Boyds Maryland from 1962 1969 In 1969 he was inducted as pastor of the Church of St John and St Stephen and served

    the worshipping community Since the program is lectionary based the children are learning about the same scriptures that the adults in their lives are hearing during the worship service This enables the family to participate in meaningful follow up conversations at home about the lessons that would not be possible if this model was not followed The lectionary and our curriculum are based on the seasons of the Christian year with each season usually being its own unit The children are divided into classes based on grade level preschool to early elementary later elementary and youth group grades 6 12 Each class hears the same scripture from the lectionary each week but in a format and in a language that each will understand Younger children will be read the story and perhaps have puppets or picture cutouts to demonstrate the story Older children will also have the story read to them and the youth group will follow along or read the story themselves from the Bible Discussions art activities and games are then used to tie the children s own experiences into the story they have heard The youth group may also discuss how to live a Christian life in
