by the human body Essential Fatty Acids Linoleic acid and alpha linolenic acid are the two essential fatty acids necessary for growth maintenance of cell membranes Linoleic acid is a double unsaturated fatty acid common in plants Evening primrose oil contains up to 80 of its total fatty acid content as linoleic acid Unrefined sun flower oil contains up to 65 hemp oil up to 60 soybean oil up to 55 and flax oil up to 26 linoleic acid The human body synthesizes another important fatty acid from linoleic acid gamma linolenic acid GLA The optimum uptake of linoleic acid is between 3 and 6 of daily calories or 9 to 18 grams Alpha linolenic acid a triple unsaturated fatty acid is found in algae crustaceans and in fish oil Only a few seeds of higher plants have substantial contents of this essential fatty acid flax up to 58 hemp up to 25 canola and soybean up to 15 The daily requirement for alpha linolenic is assumed to be 2 2 5 of the daily calorie intake 6 7 5 grams A nutritionally balanced diet contains these essential fatty acids is in a ratio of roughly 3 2 linoleic acid alpha linolenic acid The distribution of essential fatty acids in hemp oil is close to this favorable ratio 2 1 to 3 1 more so than flax oil which despite its higher total content of essential fatty acids has a less favorable ratio 1 5 The requirement for these essential acids can be satisfied by two to four teaspoons of hemp oil per day Gamma Linolenic Acid GLA In addition to the two essential fatty acids hemp oil is a rich source of gamma linolenic acid GLA and it is the only edible oil with a considerable content 2 4 Other sources are evening primrose 6 14 and borage 25 40 which because of their unpleasant taste are only offered as dietary supplements in the form of capsules While our diet generally contains sufficient linoleic acid which is then enzymatically converted to GLA in the body the process converting linoleic acid into GLA is too slow in some individuals thus leading to GLA deficiency Supplementation of GLA in the diet can alleviate the resulting health problems Therapeutic Uses of Organic Hemp Oil Cardiovascular Diseases Most of the cardiovascular diseases threatening the health of people around the world are caused by the formation of arterial plaque i e the deposition of blood components on the interior walls of our blood vessels This process may eventually block blood flow and cause arteriosclerosis and strokes LDL cholesterol a sticky substance present in the blood has been identified as one of the main contributors to arterial plaque formation Among other factors such as smoking and stress the intake of the saturated fatty acids present in animal fat is known to contribute to a high LDL level in the blood Reversely dietary treatment of patients with daily doses of linoleic acid and GLA which correspond

  • How is hemp oil made | How do you make hemp oil
seed is cleaned to 99 99 clean This is done to remove all possible leaf matter as well as dirt and contamination from other crops Since the seed itself contains no THC the only way the oil can possibly have any measurable levels of THC is if they have been contaminated by the outer protective leafy matter that contains the seed so the cleaning stage makes sure the leaf matter has been removed The seed is then loaded into hoppers that empty into a series of cold expeller press heads These heads extract the oil by extruding the seed into long chunks we call hemp cake and separating the oil in a corkscrew type process This does create a fair bit of friction and with friction comes heat We understand how important it is to minimize the head during a cold press and the process used does just that The highest temperature that occurs during pressing the seed for oil is 40 C at the press head and the oil is exposed to those temperatures for several seconds only before it quickly cools as it is expelled through the oil drain holes in the press cylinder Already by this point the oil has cooled to 32 C or cooler Once the oil enters the holding reservoir it has further cooled to below 20 C The fresh hemp seed oil is then fed into a stainless steel cold filter filtration process This filter removes any suspended solids from the oil and produces a top quality clear food grade hemp seed oil The oil is then drained into a stainless steel storage reservoir During the entire pressing process the oil is flushed with nitrogen gas to remove and displace any oxygen that might be resent The nitrogen gas is also used in

  • Is Hemp GMO free | GMO free Hemp Oil
Absolutely There are many reasons why you should be concerned about foods that contain genetically modified organisms we feel the same way The idea that an organism has been modified from what was intended naturally is just simply wrong It sure would be nice to live in a world where we had preserved the old ways the old seeds so that we could have diverse food sources and not have to rely on large corporations who need to own and control seeds in order to be able to sell chemicals It is not about the food production that is long since lost It is all about the profits Fortunately with hemp not only does the plant not need heavy chemical loads but it also does most of what the chemicals do by itself No need for herbicides to kill weeds that grow up while the crop sprouts hemp grows so fast it chokes out anything else that tries to grow up before it No need to pesticides to kill bugs that harm hemp the hemp plant produces it s own pesticides in the form of cannabinol like THC CBD and CBNs It is with great pleasure that we can report
