some less than encouraging experiences in those places and cannot give them my full trust As with the first big opportunity I ever had to make some photos for a young hockey team I got sick really sick just before it was about to take place There I was a week before one of biggest shoots we ve ever done and I m not feeling 100 Thankfully Angela s capable massage therapist hands have kept me functioning and I m sure that we will make photos that will please our client tomorrow but I certainly am praying for enough function to do a top notch job Then comes the game of patience waiting for appointments and hopefully solutions I m hoping that the timing of these very likely appointments coincide nicely with a number of other events that I really hoping to be able to participate in Congregation photos additional work for the client we will be working with tomorrow another round of congregation photos website work for our church and largest of all Help Portrait on December 10 That was by far the most fulfilling thing I ve ever done with my camera and I really hope to feel confident enough to commit to a full day of making portraits for those less fortunate or who would otherwise never be able to afford a professionally made photograph of themselves This year the plan is to provide food educational booths possibly a health practitioner on site financial advice to keep people busy after they have had their portrait made while we process and print for them before they leave on the very same day This should be an excellent way to make sure everybody gets their photo quickly and not have to come back the following week as they did last year You can see why I want to be a part of this More experienced photographers will be pairing up with less experienced photographers so everybody is learning together Rotating between shooting processing and any other duties will make sure everybody gets a nice proportion of opportunity to help in all areas All I can say is that this year is not going to be a mild improvement from last year it is going to be a substantial leap forward in what it is going to do for people and not just those receiving a portrait I will try to keep this space bit more active in the next little while It s good to be busy but I also want to make sure to keep those interested informed on things that are going on I leave you with a photo that seemed to be pretty popular on Facebook and may just give you a feeling of warmth in these increasingly chilly days More Orange Curls by Jay Scott Posted by Jay at 9 08 PM 0 comments Email This BlogThis Share to Twitter Share to Facebook Share to Pinterest Labels eck help portrait saskatoon numbness orange curls tiger

tasks that are best done before the snow flies Earlier this week while enjoying my first French press coffee with Jason at Museo I set up the iPod for another time lapse It would have been better but for the very restless patron in the purple bunnyhug I hope you enjoy it anyway Posted by Jay at 11 37 AM 0 comments Email This BlogThis Share to Twitter Share to Facebook Share to Pinterest Labels 500px moving time lapse transition video writings Aug 19 2011 Saskatoon Skies and Waters I ve been intrigued with time lapse video lately so I thought I would give it a try Some of the clips in the video below were made with still photos from the old Fujifilm S5100 They tend to be the shorter ones as I had to trigger the shutter manually Yes that means me sitting next to the camera arm extended counting to three then pressing the shutter Repeat 450 times or until your arm falls off Thankfully the other clips were made with photos from either the iPod Touch or the D700 both of which have intervalometers built in That makes it much easier to let the technology do that portion of the work while I enjoy the scene with a coffee and a friend The collections in 500px continue to grow Soon enough all of the photos will be uploaded and ready for viewing Thank you for checking in and for your patience while the details are refined Posted by Jay at 3 02 PM 0 comments Email This BlogThis Share to Twitter Share to Facebook Share to Pinterest Labels clouds river landing saskatoon scenery skies south saskatchewan river storm time lapse writings Aug 12 2011 Welcome to the New Home Hello Like the new digs We re

  • Jay Scott Photography: Saskatoon String Players
and to have hands to help me be as efficient as possible with my time and shooting Evan by Jay Scott When I arrived I thought we had full use of the stage Thankfully I learned that a group would be practicing at noon before I was all set up Backstage was fully open to us and a perfect window on an overcast day provided a perfect soft on axis fill light that saved me setting up another stand The largest obstacle was the volume of the practicing group on the other side of the curtain Guitar drums choir piano bass all playing How He Loves Us by the David Crowder Band They sounded good in fact I thought better than the above video of the writer to the point that the song was still stuck in my head when I woke up in the middle of the night The trouble was that I have enough trouble communicating with a subject from behind the camera with my weak voice without a full volume band This was managed just fine by the incredible attitude and patience of those I was photographing Such maturity and manners for their age It was a pleasure to be their photographer for an hour Kayla by Jay Scott I hope to have more to post soon but am waiting for their parents approval before I place their children s faces on the internet I hope I have future opportunities to photograph these talented people Posted by Jay at 8 15 PM Email This BlogThis Share to Twitter Share to Facebook Share to Pinterest Labels christian school evan kayla portrait saskatoon string players violin No comments Post a Comment Newer Post Older Post Home Subscribe to Post Comments Atom Challenging Reality The Portfolio All Photos on 500px

  • Jay Scott Photography: Mango Curried Chicken
by browning the chicken breasts Cook them so that they are just finished being pink in the middle remove them from the heat and set aside Cook the onion peppers garlic and ginger until they are just starting to become tender While they are cooking prepare your sauce which consists of the coconut milk soy sauce curry paste and chicken stock Cut your cooked chicken into small pieces Add the sauce mango and bamboo shoots to the vegetables and simmer for 2 4 min Add back in the cut up chicken At this point the thickness is up to you I prepared this with jasmine rice with the intention of making it a medium to soak up sauce so we left a little bit thinner We did still need to remove some of the sauce mix it with cornstarch and stir it back into thicken it up to our desired consistency After that stir in the cilantro and serve over rice It could ve been a little bit spicier so you may want to add more curry or another form of heat if that is what you like We tend to like things pretty spicy I was going for a dish that tastes very similar to a curry that I have had at Royal Thai in Saskatoon I have been craving it for some time and I think I got it as close as I could ever hope to get it on the first try and am to be perfectly honest quite proud of it My craving for that dish has been thoroughly satisfied with what I cooked this evening Posted by Jay at 10 30 PM Email This BlogThis Share to Twitter Share to Facebook Share to Pinterest Labels chicken curry cutting board food knife lime mango recipe reflection

  • Jay Scott Photography: Some Minor Changes
500px com was brand new Very recently 500px com instituted the one feature that I was missing most from Flickr and that was the ability to group photos into sets As for the community this website has exploded with people has an amazing rating system has excellent support and the commenters and contributors are top notch Previously I was able to group photos into different portfolio collections You ll still be able to see those by accessing The Portfolio but it will be thinned out to contain only the best images The problem with what I consider to be the best images is that a lot of people like the photos I feel indifferent about I do not want to limit the photos that are available for sale because of a portfolio collection that has been minimized to show what I consider only the best Now with the option of creating sets that is remedied because I can include in that set all of the photos of a specific category that I would be willing to sell as a product Because of this change there has been a slight adjustment to the navigation on the right hand bar of this site It is pretty self explanatory and should take little to no time for you to determine where to find the photos you are looking for As always if you find any dead links or errors I have made during these blurry hours before bed would you be so kind as to let me know about them so that I can fix them Have a great weekend and I hope to have some more interesting news and photos for you soon For now I am keeping the details under my hat Posted by Jay at 10 04 PM Email This
