    Partnerships Sample MOU Contact Us Regions Log in Log in Français Home Organize a Workshop The Requirements Organize a Workshop The Requirements The Union and the organization must submit a joint request for a workshop by completing the Workshop Request Form Your request will be reviewed by the Regional Field Coordinators RFC in your region If your request is approved you will be asked to submit a budget for the event Once your workshop and budget have been approved and facilitators have been assigned to the workshop you will be expected to work closely with the co facilitators to ensure that they have all the information they need to create a successful event for your workplace You will also be expected to promote the workshop in your workplace and to ensure that all participants are registered in advance For a detailed list of the organizers tasks and a checklist to help you stay on track please visit the Organizers Toolbox If you have any questions please contact the RFC in your region JLP looks forward to working with you to strengthen union management relations in your workplace Home About Us Welcome Objectives Guidelines Criteria and Key Principles MOU with Respect

    delegates organize the workshop in the workplace The JLP approves the date provides funding and approves a budget and assigns facilitators to the workshop The departmental organizers are responsible for finding a suitable location ordering refreshments if applicable finding participants and liaising with the facilitators to provide the background information and support that they will need to deliver an effective workshop A detailed list of organizing tasks can be found in the Organizing a Workshop section of the website We would like to observe a workshop before we request one for our department Can we do that It s not our usual practice to have observers at the workshops The workshops are an opportunity for teams to engage in dialogue so we think it is important that all participants in the room be actively engaged in the workshop activities However you could contact the Regional Field Coordinators RFC to discuss your needs and see how they might be accommodated What is the process for organizing a workshop The bargaining agent representative and the Employer representative submit a joint request by completing the online Workshop Request Form The RFC for the region review the request They may contact you for further information at this time They may also approve the request with one of the dates submitted suggest other dates or decline the request An email with the decision will be sent to the organizers Once the workshop has been approved and the date confirmed organizers can tentatively book the location for the workshop Organizers submit a budget using the JLP online budget tool The RFC review the workshop budget and either approve it or request more information The final budget approval is sent by email Organizers should not commit to any expenditure until they receive budget approval Once the budget has been approved the workshop is posted on the JLP website and the facilitators within the region are notified of the new posting Organizers receive an email with the names and contact information of the workshop facilitators Organizers finalize logistical and administrative requirements for the workshop Organizers recruit and register participants Once the workshop has taken place organizers confirm who attended the session and send all completed expense claims to the National Office How are participants recruited and selected Participants are identified by the organizers Given that a key goal of joint learning is to improve union management relations learning groups consist of participants who usually work together within the same workplace The design of the JLP learning kits is based on this premise and the kits contain exercises and opportunities for participants to build relationships practice their problem solving skills or identify actions they can work on together to implement back in the workplace How many participants are in each workshop and should they have 50 50 employer and employee balance Because of the participatory methods each learning group should not exceed 20 participants For most workshops it is not necessary to have equal employee employer representation The ideal

    workshop is for Union and management representatives to develop organizational structures and strategies for a harassment free environment Duty to Accommodate One day or one and a half day There are two options for this workshop It can be delivered in one day as an introduction to workplace accommodation covering the basics of the duty to accommodate It can also be delivered in a day and a half providing participants with the opportunity to further apply their knowledge and deepen their understanding of the concepts that have been introduced in Day 1 Employment Equity One day Labour Management Consultation Two days This workshop has been designed to foster positve working relationships between Union and management members of Labour Management Consultation Committees This is a two day workshop Mental Health in the Workplace One or two days While this workshop can be delivered in a one day format it is suggested to consider offering the full two day workshop as it was originally designed The two day format provides for additional analysis of the myths and misconceptions about mental health problems It reviews the legal requirements and the roles and responsibilities in ensuring healthy workplaces as well as covering compelling reasons for ensuring psychological health and safety in the workplace The extra day also allows participants to reflect and engage more deeply on the topic of mental health and to work together towards in creating inclusive workplaces that are psychologically healthy and safe Respecting Differences Anti Discrimination Two days This workshop was designed to take place over two days While you can choose a one day workshop it is strongly recommended that you offer the two day workshop The extra day allows participants to engage more deeply in the issues of discrimination and it allows time for participants to work together to develop strategies that can be applied in creating a diverse workplace Understanding the Collective Agreement One day Department Agency Since 2011 all Union members within the Core Public Administration are eligible to participate in the JLP If your organization is not listed on the drop down list it may be that we have omitted it by mistake however it may also be that your organization is not eligible for the JLP In order to complete the request select Not Listed and the JLP Regional Field Coordinators will follow up with you when they review your request Are you are hosting this workshop in partnership with another department Select Yes If more than one department is requesting this workshop After you submit the request a list of departments will appear Click the checkbox in front of each department with which you will be sharing the workshop Is this request part of an agreement Is this request part of a strategic partnership If your organization has entered into a strategic partnership to deliver a number of workshops through the JLP please select Yes Union and Employer representatives who have initiated and authorized this workshop The names you list here may be
