  • Two big pre-season games for Wild hopefuls this weekend | Town of Kensington
    games against the Charlottetown Islanders The teams will meet at Community Gardens in Kensington on Saturday at 7 30 p m and will renew acquaintances at MacLauchlan Arena in Charlottetown on Sunday at 1 40 p m The Wild goes into the final week of training camp with 22 skaters and three goaltenders still in camp To illustrate the importance of these two games the Wild will start the regular season with 18 forwards and two goaltenders Difficult decisions We have some difficult decisions to make after this weekend s home and home series said Wild assistant manager Ivan Gallant It has been a very competitive camp with all players showing they want to remain with the team All players still in camp will see action in one or both games I have been very impressed with what I have seen in camp with a number of first year players looking to crack the lineup added Gallant We encourage all fans to get out and see these young players fighting for a position on the Wild Home openerThe Wild will open the New Brunswick P E I Major Midget Hockey League regular season at home on Saturday Sept 20 when

    s Doug MacLean as a Guest Speaker for the Opening Ceremonies on Monday August 18 The Opening Ceremonies will kick off the 47th year of the Festival Doug MacLean is the former president general manager and head coach of the NHL s Columbus Blue Jackets and former head coach of the Florida Panthers Doug started professional coaching 24 years ago and has acted as both Head Coach and General Manager over the course of his career While with the Columbus Blue Jackets he was inducted into the PEI Sports Hall of Fame He is now with Rogers Sportsnet as a regular analyst on Hockey Central at Noon on Sportsnet 590 The Fan and providing insight and analysis on the show Friday Night Hockey We are very pleased to have Mr MacLean agree to speak to us He s a well known hockey personality and his roots are not far from here says Robert Wood manager of the Community Gardens Complex and Chair of the Harvest Festival Organizing Committee We encourage everyone to come out for the Opening Ceremonies for this year s Festival The Kensington Harvest Festival runs from August 15th to August 20th and features a Mammoth Street Parade
