Capsule Posted on July 8 2014 at 11 04 am The Town of Kensington plans to wrap up their centennial celebrations with sealing a time capsule on December 31 2014 They are setting the opening date to be in 25 years and will encourage the group that is opening to add their own items and then seal the time capsule and bury it for another 25 years and so on The Kensington 2014 committee is collecting suggestions from residents and stakeholders on what to include in the time capsule There will be restrictions on size and quantity as the time capsule will be about 24 square inches The location of the time capsule will be determined at a later date but the committee is leaning towards an area near the town clock at the Kensington Railyards To make your recommendations go to the town s website and click on Time Capsule and fill in the form to submit your idea We think a time capsule is a perfect way to end our year of celebrations We are marking this moment in time and saving it for future generations says Mayor Gordon Coffin Reopening every twenty five years will really give a complete view of the next 100 years for the Kensington of 2114 The time capsule will be sealed at the closing ceremonies at the Train Station on December 31 2014 The closing ceremonies are still in the planning stage but will be a fun and free family event Deputy Mayor and 2014 Committee Chair Rowan Caseley adds We used this year to pay tribute to the past one hundred years The time capsule will pay tribute to this year and will hopefully help future residents understand our way of life To submit your idea for the time capsule visit
