    enhance the agricultural landscape This program will target water quality improvements and provide other important environmental benefits within the Lake Winnipeg Watershed Landowners must have or be willing to develop and Environmental Farm Plan Projects that may qualify include water retention structures wetland restoration constructed wetlands perennial cover for sensitive land natural area maintenance and enhancement buffer and grassed waterway establishment riparian area enhancement shelterbelt or tree establishment Call the CD office for more information or to apply To inquire about the next upcoming Environmental Farm Plan workshops please contact your local MAFRD office Water Quality Water quality programs offered by the Little Saskatchewan River Conservation District are for the protection of surface water features such as lakes rivers and wetlands These programs contribute to the attaining of goals in the Little Saskatchewan River and Arrow Oak River watersheds Click here to view our Water Quality programs Groundwater Protection Protecting the health of our groundwater which is a resource that is often taken for granted is the nature of programs offered Safe drinking water through the protection of raw water sources and filling information gaps about groundwater quality and quantity were identified as priorities in the Arrow Oak and Little Saskatchewan River integrated watershed management plans Click here to view our Groundwater Protection programs Healthy Soils Preventing the loss of soil due to erosion by water and wind or the restoration of soil health following a prolonged flood period are the goals for programs offered as part of the Healthy Soils suite of programs Goals within both the Little Saskatchewan River and Arrow Oak River watersheds were developed to address concerns raised during the integrated watershed management planning process Click here to view our Healthy Soils programs Watershed Extension Providing information to both current and future watershed stewards about sustainable

    outhouses replacement of leaking septic tanks the use of intercropping green manure or environmentally smart nitrogen ESN in annual grain cropping systems or alternative watering systems fencing and crossings for livestock management Applications will be assessed based on their benefit to the watershed allowing landowners to receive financial assistance of 75 of the project costs up to a maximum of 2500 Application deadline is May 31st with projects being completed by July 31st Nutrient Management Application Form Nutrient Management Program Rating Criteria Surface Water Management The District will work with landowners to store water on the land and to reduce the effects of erosion caused by flowing water Project costs will be shared by the landowner and the conservation district Applications will be assessed based on the benefits to the watershed Please contact the office if you have a project idea Surface Water Management Application Form Surface Water Management Program Rating Criteria Pipeline Plow The pipeline plow buries plastic pipe max 2 diameter up to 18 deep for summer use Rental rate is 100 day which includes transportation to the site and technical support If water line is needed the District can provide it for a cost of 60 cents
