  • Yearly Dues - APEGM
    31 Renewal notices are sent out in early November There is a grace period after which a Late Fee is applied If your renewal payment or resignation has not been received by the end of the renewal period your name will be stricken from the association Register Fee Amounts Membership dues are set annually by the APEGM Council and include GST Current dues and fees for the 2013 year are Admission Fee New applications only 125 00 P Eng P Geo Practising 350 00 P Eng P Geo Deferred Dues 175 00 P Eng P Geo Retired 110 00 MIT Dues 175 00 MIT Deferred Dues 87 50 Late Payment Fee starting January 11 th 52 50 APEGM dues are pro rated monthly If you begin or withdraw your membership in the middle of a year APEGM will refund your unused months dues If you claim a password for your online profile you can renew online Here are copies of the generalized 2013 renewal invoice and status change forms You must indicate that you will not be renewing your membership by December 31 or you will have to pay for the new membership year pro rated monthly If you are resigning from Practising status you must return your seal and certificate to APEGM as per Act 26 2 and 28 5 Responsible Staff The Accounting and Membership Coordinator is responsible for receiving dues and issuing refunds If you do not plan to renew your membership please contact the Accounting and Membership Coordinator and submit your resignation in writing in order to resign in good standing Otherwise you may be stricken from the Register Students The Student Membership year runs from September 1 August 31 Dues should be paid by October 31 APEGM Student Membership is FREE for the first year and costs 20 for each subsequent year Monies paid as Student Membership dues are donated back to the relevant Engineering or Geoscience student societies at the University the students came from Deferred Dues To accommodate Members who must take a break from their practice because of injury maternity leave becoming a full time student or other extenuating circumstances APEGM offers a deferred dues category of registration that costs half of the normal fees While on Deferred Dues a member should not practice If someone is on deferred dues for more than four years they will need to re apply should they wish to return to their practice Retired Status Practising Members who will not be practising engineering or geoscience any more can transfer to the Retired status which allows them to keep their vote certificate insurance and P Eng or P Geo suffix They may not practice and must return their seal Requests to enter retired status are pro rated monthly Renewals are subject to the same terms as for Practising membership When a retired member wishes to be reinstated as a Practising Member he or she shall notify the Registrar and submit an Application for Resumption of Practice to

    scholarships APEGM Sons Daughters Bursary Draw Children of registered APEGM Members who will be enrolled in 1st year Engineering or Geoscience studies are eligible for five random draws of 1 000 to go towards their studies Applications are only accepted between June 1st and September 1st Simply send your names to Registrar Sons Daughters Bursary Draw APEGM 870 Pembina Hwy Winnipeg MB R3M 2M7 or e mail to gkoropatnick apegm mb ca The random draw will immediately follow the close of applications Sons Daughters Bursary Details APEGM First Year Scholarship Two scholarships are offered annually to Engineering students of The University of Manitoba by the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of the Province of Manitoba and are awarded by the University under the following rules A scholarship of 400 to the student with the highest standing in the first year of the direct entry program in the Faculty of Engineering A scholarship of 400 to the student entering the Faculty of engineering with the highest standing in University 1 The selection committee shall be the Faculty of Engineering s Committee on Scholarships Bursaries and Awards A student to be eligible for either of these scholarships must have clear standing in all subjects at the end of the spring examinations of the year on the results of which the scholarship is awarded The scholarships shall be paid to the winner in two moieties at the same time as the moieties of the Isbister Scholarships If a student who has won either of the scholarships does not return to pursue his or her studies at The University of Manitoba in the following session the scholarship shall ordinarily be forfeited and shall be awarded to the candidate who is next in order of merit In special circumstances however the scholarship may on

    Members Engineers Canada Sponsored Insurance Programs Term Life Sickness and Accident Insurance There is an offering from Manulife insurance Important Notice for Maritime life insurance policy holders Engineers Canada also maintains their own list of Affinity Programs Garrett Agencies Ltd can act as an advisor or representative regarding these plans Secondary Professional Liability Insurance As professionals engineers and geoscientists take responsibility for their work If their work subsequently fails they may be held legally liable personally for any resulting costs or damages Unless they have ample professional liability insurance they may be forced to pay thousands of dollars in damages and legal fees from their own pockets Effective April 1 2013 the Secondary Professional Liability Insurance Program has enhanced coverage for both member coverage 250 000 per claim plus defense costs and aggregate per project 500 000 This program is a tool to assist the licensing bodies in their mandate to uphold and protect the safety and interests of the public and environment A key element enables engineers and geoscientists to fulfill their role of protection of the public through the ability to seek advice in whistle blower situations Engineers Canada manages this program on behalf of its constituent associations As a member in good standing with APEGM you are automatically enrolled in the National Secondary Professional Liability Insurance Program This program provides insurance for your individual liability arising out of professional services that you may provide Frequently Asked Questions french APEGM Members and members in training are advised to familiarize themselves with the details of the policy Review the Certificate of Insurance french on the plan and the Policy Declaration french Members with additional questions are asked to direct them to the broker at 1 800 361 9080 between the hours of 9 00 a m and 5 00

    Practice Guidelines Practice Notes Privacy Policy APEGM Policies Salary Surveys The Keystone Professional Career Opportunities Professional Development PD Events Online Registration CPD Program PD Opportunities Continuing Education Volunteer Opportunities APEGM Committees Council Council Minutes Nominations Online Voting Council Governance Policies Special Events Ingenium Making Links New Members Lunch Networking Event Members Website APEGM Foundation Awards Contact APEGM APEGM Staff Keystone Advertising Event Sponsorship Post a Job Electronic Seals Overview APEGM has always issued and will continue to issue a manual seal to every member once they become registered in order to authenticate their professional products An imprint of the manual seal and signature by the hand of a registered member has been the traditional means by which Professional Engineers and Geoscientists authenticate their documents Prior to 2011 this was the only way that APEGM s members were allowed to authenticate Member s now have the additional option to digitally authenticate their electronic documents The process still involves applying an image of their manual seal and signature to a document but goes further to include a digital certificate that is linked to the member APEGM has partnered with Notarius who maintain the verification infrastructure and manage digital signatures for various professional organizations Applications and renewals of the digital signatures are maintained through Notarius while APEGM verifies new applications and maintains the authority to revoke the digital signatures in accordance with a member s standing Electronically signed documents can be modified but the state of the document when signed will always be preserved Documents can be signed multiple times through their lifetime by multiple people Documents can also be encrypted to restrict access to their contents This new authentication option has the potential to eliminate the need to print and store physical versions of electronic documents Terminology In 1998 the Engineering and
