  • Coach Training - Is it necessary? | The VA Voice
that are the same for each area that coaching is applied to It is much too easy to cross the line into other forms of support consulting teaching training managing counselling if the core elements that distinguish coaching are not fully understood No matter how much I thought I knew or understood about coaching prior to my own training I found that there were significant pieces missing in the context of what we are now defining as professional coaching She further commented Thus you will see that I believe it is necessary Not only from the standpoint of competency but from the aspect of the development of coaching as a distinct profession Educating not only our emerging coaches on what being a professional coach means but the public as well is one of the important elements contributing to the ongoing development and evolution of this profession In addition more and more customers are beginning to ask where a coach has been trained particularly in the business and corporate market With coaching significantly contributing to the sustainability of change in business at all levels more and more companies are actually having their internal people TRAINED in the competency of coaching This is a flag that indicates there is something more that coaching brings to the relationships What that actually IS is discovered in coach specific training When asked the same question Pam Thomas an Associate Certified Coach who also has a successful coaching practice What s Within U LLC replied When you are committed to being the best coach you can possibly be training is one of the most critical components As a coach we support our clients in various aspects of their lives and when you are dealing with someone s personal issues and things that are important to them coach training provides you with the experience and the foundation In addition coach training helps to enhance and strengthen the skills one already has which is an extra added bonus Heck I wouldn t go to a doctor that didn t have the proper training I want to feel confident that the person I have chosen to work with has the experience skills background and training to best support me Personally I would not feel comfortable continuing to coach clients if I did not have and continue to obtain the proper training So you can see not only is coach training a powerful tool in your personal and professional development but it s really what defines coaching as coaching Anyone can say they are a Coach however without the proper training foundation and core skills is it really coaching they are providing For more information Coaching Resources Coach Training CoachInc com http www coachinc com Coach Certification ICF http www coachfederation org Work with a Coach Pam Richarde InnerVision Enterprises http www InnerVisionEnterprises com Pam Thomas What s Within U http www whatswithinu com Find a Coach Directory www findacoach com 2 Responses to Why Coach Training Mary Lou Ashton

  • Do you love what you're doing? Life's too short not to be! | The VA Voice
own little slant to each of them I watched his excitement as he spoke about the possibilities His eyes lighting up each time he spoke about cooking the menu the dishes etc I remember saying to him that sounds great when will you be starting No sooner had I spoken those words his facial expression change the excitement ended the light went to dark and you could see the fear creeping in slowly dashing that dream The response being typical of anyone hesitant in walking down an unknown path Oh well I m just thinking out loud here I think it s a little too risky what if it fails Yes I said but what if it doesn t He didn t respond he shrugged and simply changed the subject I left him with this question a question that would never be answered In my heart I knew he could make this work I knew this because he would love doing it and if you love doing something you do it exceptionally well When I heard the news of my Uncles passing I kept replaying this conversation in my head That old cliché Life s too short hit a little too close to home I imagined how happy he would have been if he had followed his passion years ago I wondered if he knew that his life was going to be cut so short would he have hesitated in the slightest in making this dream a reality I like to think the answer would be no I thank the universe everyday that I wake up each morning loving what I m doing never thinking about the things I could have been doing instead My Uncle taught me a lot of valuable life lessons but the most important one is

  • Coach Certification - Consider the support of a VA! | The VA Voice
designation currently awarded through ICF requires a Coach to have 200 hours of Coach Specific Training 2500 hours of Client coaching experience with a minimum of 35 clients 10 hours work with a qualified mentor coach 3 Reference letters Three part exam A lot of work for any Coach And it s not just the time it takes a Coach to achieve this but the work that goes into keeping track of it all This is where I come in As a Coaches VA I support them in managing and streamlining this process by keeping track of all of this information so when it comes time to submit the certification application all the time tracking and paper work is done By accessing my clients calendar meeting with them weekly to confirm appointments and inputting the information in data management software my clients are free to focus on achieving the requirements and not the tasks that are associated with it Now the support doesn t end with simply tracking the information a Coaches VA can also assist with the application process The ICF has certain ways in which the information for certification must be submitted compiling the information itself can be extremely time consuming If you re not one for paper work and not many people are this is another job you can have a peace of mind delegating to your VA Coach certification is a huge step for any Coach but know that you do not have to face it alone let your VA support you through it every step of the way Leave a Reply Name required Mail will not be published required Website WP Theme Icons by N Design Studio Blog RSS Socialize Recent Posts She s Back I m Sorry That s it Virtual Challenges You ve

Welcome Letter a personal welcome to your client letting them know how genuinely honoured you are to support them with their goals in life and business Coaching Agreement an agreement that outlines the terms of the relationship confidentiality not to be construed as therapy scheduled days times fees payment policies and any other information that requires your clients consent Client data sheet it is exactly as it sounds ask the client to fill out all their contact information and remember to include other important information such as spouses name children s name and of course their birth date A Coach should never forget their client s birthday J Coaching prep form not always a must have but definitely an item to consider The client prep form is a handy form for clients who may need some time to think about their agenda and what to really focus on during their coaching session Not all clients need this but quite a few do so if it works use it Some other items to consider General Information Guidelines for the relationship how they can get the most out of their sessions what to expect from your coaching style Not all Coaches add this piece as some of these items are discussed in that first initial interview but I ve always found it a nice piece to incorporate Testimonials If you have them then use them Coaching Assessments Assessments such as Clean Sweep Tru Values are used often by Coaches If you are a coach who uses assessments be sure to include them Now once you have decided what to include in your client welcome package it s time to put it all together This is where the fun really starts If you re a creative type such as myself I thoroughly enjoy creating the overall design and image of each package Ensure that Your package represents you in the best possible way Include your company logo company name tagline be consistent with font style size and do not go overboard with unnecessary graphics Simply using your letterhead would be sufficient You make it easy for your client to fill out information Although most of the information can be in PDF you may want to consider creating some of the information as forms This way your client can fill out the forms directly in a program such as Word Coaching Agreements should always be faxed or mailed if you require billing information such as credit card number It is absolutely free of spelling and grammar errors need I say more The client welcome package in my opinion is one of the first items a new Coach should be considering For me I feel it is a necessity for any Coach And I say this not only speaking from the VA point of view but from the client point of view And for those Coaches who would sooner delegate this type of work and focus on what they do best Coach Give me a
