  • Electric vehicles incentive program
    recharge from the electricity grid EVs that have already received grants from other Canadian provinces or US federal or state governments Rebates for leased EVs Eligible EVs can be leased To receive the full rebate the lease term must be 36 months For vehicles leased for shorter terms the rebate is scaled 33 3 of the full amount for a 12 month lease 66 7 of the full amount for a 24 month lease If you shorten your lease at a later date you will be required to return the full amount of your rebate Rebates on demonstrator vehicles As defined by the Electric Vehicle Incentive Program a demonstrator demo vehicle is used solely for education and promotion purposes such as providing test drives to customers It is not used for personal or business purposes by the dealership its management or its employees When sold to a consumer a demo vehicle will qualify for a rebate under the Electric Vehicle Incentive Program if it has been driven less than 2 000 km has not been previously registered Each year a dealer may sell up to two demo vehicles with a maximum 15 000 km of mileage that will qualify for a rebate under the Electric Vehicle Incentive Program For these two vehicles only the dealer must provide a warrant that shows the demo vehicle was not used for personal or business purposes a vehicle log Motor vehicle dealers may download an application form PDF 1460 KB to have a demo vehicle with between 2 000 and 15 000 km of mileage qualify for a rebate and can download a vehicle log form PDF 1473 KB to submit to the province as supporting information Apply for an EV rebate You need to apply within six months from the date you bought or leased your EV To apply you will need to provide the following A completed and signed application form PDF 1 46 MB for each vehicle A copy of your sales or lease agreement stating that you have paid for and received the EV Proof that the vehicle is registered and plated in Ontario If you have already received two EV rebates in the same calendar year you also need to provide the Vehicle Information Number VIN of those vehicles and the date of purchase The VIN is usually found on the vehicle s dashboard Don t use the VIN on the vehicle permit as it may not be correct Mail these documents to the address shown on the application form OR Your car dealer can apply for the rebate on your behalf The dealer is not allowed to charge a fee for this service You are not required to use dealer financing in order to receive the rebate at point of sale under the EV Incentive Program The incentive is applied to the after tax value of the vehicle Questions Please call the EV Program Centre at 1 866 668 8297 For questions about registering your EV call the
