parents are thrilled They like that They like him being in early So the next weekend they let him know that they re looking forward to seeing him home early again Now he has to start all over to negotiate a midnight curfew He sure wishes he d stayed out late the previous weekend He wishes he d stayed out until midnight no matter what As a parent I prefer dealing with each evening case by case Talk to your kid Where is he going to be Who with How is he getting home If he s visiting at a friend s house in the neighbourhood and being driven home be the father an old family friend that s totally different from being in a downtown nightclub and coming home on the bus or being at a beach party Talk to him about his plans Ask him when he s going to be home Be reasonable according to the circumstances It works way better that way believe me This entry was posted in Teens Bookmark the permalink Video games Delayed gratification Leave a Reply Cancel reply Your email address will not be published Required fields are marked Name Email Website

down with him and let him know that from now on he can play games for let s say an hour a day Don t expect him to be happy with this decision It s not your job to make him happy It s your job to help him have some balance in his activities Let him know that he can play computers after he has completed his homework You can say When you finish your homework you may have one hour of computer game time Of course he ll say that he s doing research and quite probably he is If that s the case you can still set a limit Computers with both their research capabilities and fun potential are not all bad but just like anything else it s about balance This entry was posted in Teens Bookmark the permalink Curfews Leave a Reply Cancel reply Your email address will not be published Required fields are marked Name Email Website Comment You may use these HTML tags and attributes a href title abbr title acronym title b blockquote cite cite code del datetime em i q cite strike strong Search Articles Search for Sign up for Kathy
