    race relations cultural diversity and Aboriginal issues To promote inclusiveness and actively oppose racism racial harassment and cultural stereotyping in the workplace and in the PSAC To encourage access to elders at all union and workplace events To promote and encourage participation in the AAC of all PSAC Aboriginal members 3 Membership The Aboriginal Action Circle is open to all PSAC members in good standing in the National Capital Region who have self identified as Aboriginal Aboriginal people in other unions organizations communities etc are welcome to attend our meetings as guests 4 Organization and Structure From amongst its members the Circle shall choose people to serve as Chairperson The Chairperson shall be responsible for the affairs of the Circle between meetings The Chairperson will facilitate any meetings of the Circle held during their term The Chair will ensure that issues of importance are communicated to the members of the Circle in a timely fashion This position does not have any executive decision making powers outside of the normal decision making process of the Circle The Chairperson will be responsible for the agenda and the callout for agenda items at least one week before the meeting date The membership must be given as much advance notice as possible to allow for optimum participation If the Chairperson is unavailable the Secretary Treasurer or NCRC Representative may assume the duties of the Chairperson for AAC activities Secretary The Secretary shall be responsible for all non financial administrative functions of the Circle including the production and distribution of Minutes of all regular and special meetings of the Circle Treasurer The Treasurer shall be responsible for all the financial affairs of the Circle including The presentation of a financial report at each meeting of the Circle The preparation and presentation of an annual financial report to the Circle and to the NCRC The presentation of an annual budget to be approved by the Circle before it is presented to the NCRC for approval National Capital Region Council Representative The NCRC Representative shall represent the Aboriginal Action Circle on the NCRC They will report on the Circle s activities to the NCRC at each regular meeting of the NCRC and report back to the Circle on NCRC activities and requests This position does not have any executive decision making powers outside of the normal decision making process of the Circle If the NCR Representative is unavailable the Chairperson Treasurer or Secretary may assume the duties of the Chairperson for AAC activities 5 Meetings During the months of September to June inclusive the Circle shall meet at least once each month During the Months of July and August the Circle will meet on as as needed basis The Annual general Meeting of the Circle shall be held in the last quarter of the calendar year The purpose of the AGM shall be To select its officers to table and discuss activity reports of the Circle To review the year s achievements challenges and activities to review

    national level To be sure I have not always agreed with some of the policies and decisions of the union but it is a democratic institution in which I believe I chose to become a public servant knowing that it was a unionized position and that meant certain responsibilities and benefits came with that decision More to the point at hand and to be clear on your position as a member by choice of a communal entity that negotiates on my behalf for wages and benefits represents me on issues in the workplace and provides legal services you feel that I should have the ability to opt out of paying for these and other services You believe that if I do not completely agree with any or all of the actions and policies of this organization I can be free of any financial responsibility and still enjoy the benefits of the said organization That s wonderful Please let me know when I can expect to stop paying my taxes You see I kind of need some extra cash so that I can build a big fence around my property I want to start my own country because quite frankly I

    year term is too short Length of term 2 years Decision It was moved that members have a two year term Moved by Francine Stuart Seconded by Patrice Rémillard Motion carried unanimously 2 Committee Objectives Discussion The Committee s objectives will be based on the region s communication plan and the Committee s discussions including those of its first meeting It was decided that the Committee would develop its objectives based on the region s communication plan Decision Moved by Francine Stuart Seconded by Judy McAuley Motion carried unanimously Committee objectives 3 Preparation for the Committee s launch at the Regional Council meeting in June Discussion A pamphlet informing members of the Committee s mandate and objectives should be produced to be distributed at the June meeting The Committee s logo should be launched at this time To be determined at the April meeting Decisions The Committee will research the logo with explanations The logo and medium will be discussed at the next meeting in preparation for the June launch 4 Round table discussion Louise will contact the PSAC to obtain an email address to providing access to all executive members and reply rights only to Chantal All requests received

    were reviewed Decisions A choice was made to go with model no 8 845593 suggested by Judy unanimously adopted Judy McAuley was given responsibility for the logo She will purchase the rights to reproduce this logo and send the electronic version to Louise Patrice so that she can send it to suppliers to produce T shirts 10 navy blue T shirts with this white and light blue logo and COMMUNICATIONS on the back along with various products such as magnetic stickers A portfolio will be created making it possible to propose various logos to future clients of the committee 3 Presentation by the committee to the Area Council in June Discussions For the presentation the Committee will bring in a product identifying the Committee for distribution to members of the Area Council This may include magnetic stickers at 67 cents unit 500 were ordered They include the logo the Committee name and the e mail address A hard copy of the presentation proposed by Chantal was given to the members We asked them to get back to us with their feedback for April 25 Decisions Judy volunteered to add the logo animation flash etc to the presentation The next Committee
