  • The countdown is on! CBC/Radio-Canada marks six months to the Rio 2016 Olympic Games
    the athletes and the Olympic Games through a digital first strategy allowing them to watch what they want when they want from wherever they want Along with our broadcast partners TSN RDS and Sportsnet and our Olympic partners on the corporate side we continue to prepare for what will be one of the most innovative and accessible Olympic Games broadcasts ever provided to Canadians Canadian viewers will have access to more than 1275 hours of television coverage from Rio 2016 throughout the Games across CBC TV ICI Radio Canada Télé and primary Olympic broadcast partners TSN and RDS as well as Sportsnet In addition CBC Radio One and ICI Radio Canada Première will provide special programming on the radio with TSN Radio also carrying Olympic Games broadcasts as the Official Affiliate Radio Broadcaster CBC Radio Canada s broadcasts during the Games will be split into three programming blocks Olympic Games Morning Olympic Games Daytime and Olympic Games Primetime in English and French starting at 7 a m ET 4 a m PT each day For viewers of CBC Radio Canada s English language coverage Ron MacLean will host Olympic Games Morning 7 a m to 12 p m ET 4 to 9 a m PT followed by the duo of Andi Petrillo and David Amber for Olympic Games Daytime 12 to 6 p m ET 9 to 3 p m PT with Scott Russell hosting the nightly Olympic Games Primetime block 6 p m to 1 a m ET 3 to 10 p m PT In total this veteran team has a combined experience of 23 Olympic Games as broadcasters for CBC Radio Canada In addition to coverage on television CBC Radio will have results coverage context and more every day throughout Rio 2016 with hosts Scott Regehr and Andie Bennett on Olympic Games Report French language viewers will be greeted on Olympic Games Morning by Olympian Alexandre Despatie and RDI Matin Week End s Martin Labrosse each day 7 a m to 11 a m ET 4 to 8 a m PT followed by ICI RDI s Alexis de Lancer 11 a m to 1 p m ET 8 to 10 a m PT and Radio Canada s Guy D Aoust 1 to 6 p m ET 10 a m to 3 p m PT sharing hosting duties for Olympic Games Daytime while familiar Radio Canada Olympic host Marie José Turcotte will be at the helm of Olympic Games Primetime 6 30 p m to 12 a m ET 3 30 to 9 p m PT Marie José Turcotte and Guy D Aoust will host their 14th and fifth Olympic Games respectively as broadcasters for Radio Canada From a radio standpoint Alain Gravel and Marie Louise Arsenault will host daily special programming to French language listeners along with journalist Robert Frosi More details about the larger broadcast teams for CBC Radio Canada s and its broadcast partners will be announced in the coming months On the digital front CBC

    3 2013 SYNC Issue 4 2013 SYNC Issue 5 2013 SYNC Issue 6 2014 Contributors 2014 2015 Annual Report We have seen challenge change and opportunity over the past fiscal year all of which is chronicled in our report Read Annual Public Meeting 2015 Our Annual Public Meeting was held on September 29 2015 live from Winnipeg All details here More Environmental Performance Report 2014 2015 In addition to our mandate of reaching out to Canadians with programming on all platforms we strive to build a culture of environmental awareness and sustainability More Media Centre News Releases Get the facts Speeches Media Contacts Commercial Services Ombudsmen Home Media Centre 2016 January January 27 Media Centre News Releases Get the facts Speeches Media Contacts LinkedIn Facebook Twitter Print Email Guy Gendron named new French Services ombudsman January 27 2016 Guy Gendron chief editor of Le téléjournal 22h and Les coulisses du pouvoir has been appointed CBC Radio Canada s French Services ombudsman effective March 8 2016 At CBC Radio Canada journalistic accuracy integrity and fairness are central to what we do We want to set the standard for journalistic excellence and the ombudsman is an essential part of this The ombudsman ensures compliance with our Journalistic Standards and Practices offering Canadians the chance to get an independent reading of how the Standards should be applied said President and CEO Hubert T Lacroix The way Canadians get their news is evolving and I m confident that Guy will issue decisions tailored to this changing environment I m pleased to announce his appointment his extensive knowledge of journalism and Radio Canada coupled with his open mind and intellectual rigour are definite assets for this job added Mr Lacroix I look forward to helping evolve our application of the Journalistic Standards and furthering the discussion about journalism best practices I ve applied these same standards in all areas of journalism at Radio Canada for over 30 years As ombudsman I ll be the point of contact between Canadians and the public broadcaster My role is to cast an impartial eye on Radio Canada news content said Guy Gendron Over his prolific career Mr Gendron has served as a local and national reporter foreign correspondent parliamentary correspondent investigative reporter interviewer anchor and chief editor He worked on Enquête Enjeux and Zone libre and hosted Tout le monde en parlait before going on to become chief editor of Le téléjournal 22 h and Les coulisses du pouvoir The ombudsman is completely independent of program staff reporting directly to the Corporation s Board of Directors through the President The ombudsman handles complaints from members of the public who are not satisfied with the response they receive from the news department The Corporation has two ombudsmen one for English Services and one for French Services The ombudsmen can be reached through their respective websites Pierre Tourangeau will stay on until March 31 2016 We are grateful for his contribution to the public broadcaster In closing Mr Gendron added
