    Church School Director Isabel Cole Facilities Coordinator Velma Beesley Women s Service Guild Wendy Wise Transportation Coordinator Barbara Brown Our History The first St Andrew s Presbyterian Church Markham was built on the present site of St Andrew s Cemetery located on Hwy 7 east of Hwy 48 in 1840 When this structure was destroyed by fire a new church was built on Washington Street in 1873 This building now houses the Markham and District Veterans Association In 1926 a new sanctuary was opened at our current location and in 1964 the Education Wing was opened In 1987 our current sanctuary was dedicated to the glory of God The Session Elders elected by the congregation along with our ordained ministers form the spiritual leadership and the governing body of St Andrew s Presbyterian Church in Markham Session carries the overall responsibility for the life and health of the congregation As such The Session oversees the worship education music and mission programs of the congregation Session meets the first Monday of each month in the Scott room at 7 30 PM The Board of Management Board Members are also elected by the congregation and they serve for a 3 year term
