  • Frozen Frog Legs
room for one more jumper Sorry called Fergie I m not allowed on thin ice The other frogs giggled Are you afraid of freezing your tail off Fergie The games went on while Fergie sat on the bank feeling miserable Why should I miss all the fun Fergie frowned Everybody else can play on the ice All at once Fergie made up his mind Here I come he yelled He took a flying leap on to the ice As soon as he landed Fergie knew something was wrong The new ice crackled His back feet felt the sting of icy water Help cried Fergie As he grabbed at the ice to pull himself out of the water the ice crumbled into splinters I m freezing Save me When the other frogs heard the ice snap they headed for shore Roger broke off a dried bulrush Another frog helped him poke it across the icy water to Fergie Fergie grabbed the bulrush and his friends hauled him to shore Ohhh he moaned My legs are so cold they hardly bend And look I m turning blue When that little frozen frog hobbled home Mother and Father Frog were very angry His mother made him cattail soup but she didn t say a word to Fergie as he sat shaking in the kitchen You were a very foolish frog today Ferguson said Father Frog sternly We warned you that new ice was dangerous You are very lucky we frogs are cold blooded Otherwise you might be an ice cube right now Fergie nodded I know I did a stupid thing I m sorry But as he rubbed his legs to get warm Fergie wondered why so many things that are so much fun can get a little frog into so much trouble
