    been working to develop and distribute the acclaimed Grow a Tree project to schools across Canada Each Grow a Tree kit is delivered to teachers and schools complete with biodegradable cartons and seeds for each student to plant and grow his or her own tree A fun and colourful student workbook that guides students through grade specific environmental and outdoor education learning A teacher s manual containing grade specific lessons and activities to facilitate the planting and growing of trees The program came into existence through the efforts of Radha Zaidi our founder and president as a reaction to her love of both children s education and the environmental cause Since 1991 the organization has grown exponentially in size and is currently run by a small group of faithful volunteers The program has been steadily growing since its inception In the first year three thousand elementary school students participated and grew their own trees To date hundreds of thousands of children across Canada have participated in the unique and hands on experience that is the Grow a Tree project A special thanks to every teacher who has brought the Grow a Tree project to their classroom The Grow a Tree

  • Trees For Life Canada | Hamilton-Burlington Eco-Festival
    From May 18th to the 20th elementary schools from the entire catchment made their way to the Royal Botanical Gardens to join in on all sorts of environmentally friendly workshops activities and exploration This year Trees for Life Canada presented the Clean Air by Kids workshop which focuses on the role that trees play in maintaining healthy air quality Students learned about the pores on leaves that suck up gaseous pollution and in turn release fresh oxygen into the atmosphere for us to breathe Students got their hands on the Earth o meter and figured out simple kid friendly ways that they could keep the environmental balance of the planet in check During free time students visited the Trees for Life Canada information booth and tried their hand at matching cones seeds leaves and needles with their corresponding tree species They also participated in a large scale scavenger hunt uncovering the answers to all sorts of nifty eco trivia Did you know that for every tonne of paper you recycle you save 17 trees Teachers took the grow a tree kit back to their classrooms so that every student could get their hands dirty and learn about trees along the

    Toronto Live Green Festival this weekend at Yonge and Dundas Square Happily nestled in the TD Kids Zone Tress for Life Canada ran several eco themed activities for kids and adults alike The crowds were invited to take a break from the hot sun in the shade at our famous tree planting station beneath the Kids Zone canopy Kids and adults filled their incredible biodegradable cartons with rich soil planted honey locust seeds and spritzed with a little bit of water Presto Hundreds of Torontonians walked away with their own little trees to care for and nurture Others worked at our button making station designing their own environmental slogans and messages to wear proudly around the festival and beyond Loads of kids and parents walked the green carpet and had their pictures taken as today s hottest environmental stars They totally rocked it Check out all of the green carpet photos on Trees for Life Canada s facebook page at facebook com Trees4LifeCanada Toronto we love your spirit and enthusiasm and your pledges to care for and love your trees We ll see you again next year at the Toronto Live Green Festival on Saturday July 21 st 2012 where
