by the way was amazing to see up close and behind the gates we saw the musical Rent ran around London seeing lots of regular touristy things like London Bridge Big Ben etc We also made a special trip to Stonehenge I have to say it was amazing and I m so glad we went there It s definitely a big tourist attraction for the area and rightfully so The entire area has a different feel and you can sense the history the land simply breathes it To see it in person was fantastic and I hope to go there again someday with Matt and kids too if we make it a family trip ThrowbackThursday pip pip cheerio Posted on August 15 2013 Posted in 2013 Girl Guides Nostalgic Throwback Thursday London Aug 1999 I can t believe it s been about 14 years since I went on a Guiding trip to the United Kingdom and Switzerland It was a trip first planned during our last year of Pathfinders and the trip itself was in the summer of 1999 as some of us were finishing up as Rangers Stacey one of my best friends was amongst our small group of that consisted of four girls and two adult leaders We went to London for just a few days and stayed at Pax Lodge as a hostel We then flew to Switzerland and stayed at Our Chalet for a full week I remember being amazed at the size of London and how many people that were constantly coming and going Yes I had been to come big cities like Toronto but this was a completely different experience Although our time in London was very short there are some great memories from those couple of days including an epic search for a specific theatre so that us four young ladies could go see the musical Rent Our leaders Joan and Liz had other things they wanted to do so we set off on our own in the very big city We ended up getting a little lost and even had our map start to fall apart Ha ha But we made it to the show on time and without any major problems To this day Rent is still my favourite musical It was an amazing trip and I m very thankful to have had the opportunity to go when I was only 18 My parents had a lot of faith in me and obviously were the reason I could financially pull it off Thanks again Mom and Dad Next week a photo from this same trip but when we visited Stonehenge for the day Throwback Thursday Family Photos Posted on August 1 2013 Posted in 2013 Family Nostalgic Parenting Photography Throwback Thursday Family photos They re something I ve always enjoyed looking at My parents have some old albums and I m able to see lots of great things from before I was born to events I remember when I was little

amazing weekend One that I ll never forget Oh and we did eventually get to set off those fireworks Happy anniversary Matt On July 7th we ll celebrate six years of marriage XOXO ThrowbackThursday This Little Guiding Light of Mine Posted on June 27 2013 Posted in 2013 Friends Girl Guides Meme NL Nostalgic Throwback Thursday Me as a Brownie circa 1988 I ve been involved with Girl Guides of Canada almost consistently since I was seven years old when I became a Brownie this was before Sparks even existed I did have a few years where I wasn t involved with the Guiding movement while I was living in Toronto but once I returned to Newfoundland and Labrador I joined up with the Brownie unit I volunteered with for years before moving away There have been lots of raining camping trips tinfoil dinners and so many campfire songs that have enriched my childhood and adulthood thanks to Girl Guides I can even brag that I met one of my best friends thanks to Pathfinders I still remember our first meeting of the 34th St John s Pathfinders There was a larger than normal number of first year girls because a bunch of us from another area in the city had heard that this unit was really good so we decided to join it There was a girl there named Stacey and I figured she must have been a second year girl because she already had a bunch of badges when in fact Stacey had attended the Pathfinder s camp that summer and earned those badges as a brand new member Stacey and I with the Pathfinder s of the Year award circa 1996 It was the first time ever that two people received it which seems rather fitting for us Also in the photo is Joan Osmond who was one of our leaders in both Pathfinders and Rangers and she went to England and Switzerland with us and Marg Breen our Provincial Commissioner at the time Stacey and I went to the same junior high school and it was through our Pathfinder meetings and also recognizing each other at school that we became fast friends And around that same time a girl named Darleen who was in Stacey homeroom was also on the scene and the three of started a friendship that still holds true today There are a lot of great memories I share through Guiding adventures with Stacey and lots of inside jokes From the Allen blanket to lying in the middle of the road in Adelboden Switzerland to using a map with a hole in it while trying get to a showing of Rent in London England we ve had a lot of good times Over the years I ve made a lot of great friends thanks to Girl Guides and I also hope that I ve helped mentor and be a role model for the girls that have come up through our Brownie unit Our

getting some fleece or cutting up a blanket and trying to use Velcro tape to try and stick on something that she could chew without damaging the wood but then I decided that someone else must have created something so why reinvent the wheel Getting one of those little plastic crib rail covers wasn t going to work because the crib s sides are too wide But luckily the Gummi Rail came to the rescue I did my searches and found that I could get the best deal from Snuggle Bugz which is a Canadian company so that s a bonus For only 20 I really wish I had thought of getting this stuff sooner It was ridiculously easy to stick on but I will say that it s best to have two people do it like the instructions suggest And to remove it you just need a hair dryer and some patience One box of it was enough to do that long edge of the crib and I m now thinking I may want to get another one to do the sides because apparently they re looking pretty tasty these days You can also get the Gummi Rail in an extra wide version And how does Missy Moo feel about this modification to her crib well see for yourself Nom nom nom But I m so cute How could anyone suspect me I m completely serious when I say this is possibly one of the best baby items out there I really do wish I had bought it sooner If I know someone who has a baby that s doing a lot of chewing I ll definitely be recommending they get some Gummi Rail So what should you do if your child is chewing constantly but isn t in her crib Well that s my next post Share this Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Pinterest Google Email Like this Like Loading 1 Comment Mommy Musing Monday Cheese Mommy Musing Monday Chew on This Part 2 One Response Pingback VirginiaMiddleton ca Mommy Musing Monday Chew on This Part 2 Leave a Reply What do you think Join the conversation Cancel reply I want to read about I want to read about Select Category 2009 1 2010 12 2011 21 2012 34 2013 76 2014 11 2015 9 2016 1 Aikido 1 Baby 52 Birthday 6 blog 12 Bobble head Ted 1 books 8 Bull Pond 3 Canada Day 5 Cascade 220 2 CCME 1 Comics Images 4 communication 6 Dilbert 5 Dreams 1 email fail 3 Facebook 10 Family 41 Food 19 Friday 5 2 Friends 7 Fundraising 4 Gardening 2 Girl Guides 3 GSE 2012 13 Holidays 14 Introduction 1 iPad2 8 iPhone photos 3 Knitting 6 KonMari Method 3 leg warmers 1 Macro 3 Madil Yarns Kid Seta 1 Marketing 7 Meme 8 Memorial Day 2 Miranda 27 Monday Musing 1 Montreal 2 MR 4 Music 1 Musing Monday 40 NL 33 Nostalgic 21 Ontario 11 Ottawa 1 Parenting 54

fairly cold water while wearing her new My Little Lion Designs swim diaper Notice the adorable swim diaper she s wearing It was made by the wonderful and talented Christina Kubik owner of My Little Lion Designs The swim diaper we have is fantastic and was perfect for the cool dip Missy Moo needed on such a hot day Note I tend to call my daughter two by four when she will no bend because she s like a piece of plywood My Little Lion Designs has lots of other great products and I ll do a proper review of some other products that we re enjoying including a very snazzy bib and wet bag So if you haven t yet go check out Christina s Etsy site and her Facebook page All finished cooling off Cozy Sun and Bug Cover Posted on May 25 2013 Posted in 2013 Baby Products Last night I was at Walmart and found a Cozy Sun and Bug Cover I ve been thinking about getting something like this for Missy Moo because it s possible we may have a warm summer with sun Found at Walmart for only 10 There s also a concern about flies when at our summer home The last thing we want is for our little one to get a sunburn or fly bites So any other new moms out there this is definitely a handy thing for summer And if you re in the St John s area I was at the Topsail Road Walmart and they were on a rack of what may have been discontinued items near the baby section They had both green and pink covers Baby formula opinions needed Posted on April 23 2013 Posted in 2013 Baby Food Miranda Products Moms and dads out there Matt and I are looking for opinions on powder formula for our baby What formula should I use Continue reading Crying colic child Posted on April 3 2013 Posted in 2013 Baby Family Miranda Parenting Products Over the past few days we ve noticed that Miranda has been increasingly fussy later in the day and even more so in the early evening While it could just be a growth spurt that we have to march through we re also wondering if she s experiencing extra gas that s causing discomfort perhaps even colic She s kicking her legs more and seems to be suffering some sort of pain The her facial expressions would break your heart and the her cries would break your ear drums After not being able to give her any relief yesterday afternoon I went to Lawtons Drugs after supper in hopes of getting some gripe water The pharmacy was pretty busy but I waited for my turn I spoke with a pharmacist and we discussed the different over the counter OTC options I decided to go with Kolik because it has a decent dosage of sodium bicarbonate and it was recommended for babies her age
