Monkey Face because of the things she s trying to climb or manages to get into I should have some examples to share soon Stay tuned Next week One year how did the past 12 months fly by so quickly Leave a comment Mommy Musing Monday sniffles and sneezes Posted on February 3 2014 by Virginia Posted in 2014 Baby Musing Monday NL Parenting It s been a busy few days Not because of social engagements or volunteer commitments although both are often enough to keep us going No instead we ve been dealing with teething of the molar variety and some sort of viral thing that s left Missy Moo feeling pretty miserable Continue reading 1 Comment Mommy Musing Monday Do you Know the Muffin Mom Posted on January 27 2014 by Virginia Posted in 2014 Baby Food Musing Monday Parenting I m going to try and post more recipes that I m cooking baking for Missy Moo Most of the recipes are perfectly fine for us adults to have the only real difference I ve noticed is that they often have less sugar and while there are often some tasty flavours there isn t anything too crazy or spicy For the most part we give little miss some of whatever we re eating But on days when we re having spicy Thai curry or something she may not be ready to sample we re trying out some new things Oh and don t for a minute think that I m making everything she eats There are some great pre made stuff that s convenient and not completely terrible as in there aren t a lot of of preservatives and there are littler or no chemicals So if you re not making things for your little one don t feel bad I m confident it will not traumatize them and leave them full of hostility when they re adults Continue reading Leave a comment Mommy Musing Monday Just Roll With it Posted on January 20 2014 by Virginia Posted in 2013 Baby Family Musing Monday Parenting Parents are often their own worst critic Whether it s mommy guilt paranoia of what strangers think or having someone you know roll their eyes because of some quirky parenting thing that works for your family But sometimes you re in a situation and just roll with it Now what I m about to describe is by no means epic or something to be documented for the ages but it s something I ll remember and it ll probably happen again and again A couple of weeks ago Missy Moo and I had a pretty busy Friday She managed to have a short morning map but it was clear she was still a very tired baby Continue reading Leave a comment I want to read about I want to read about Select Category 2009 1 2010 12 2011 21 2012 34 2013 76 2014 11 2015 9 2016 1 Aikido 1 Baby 52

the crib but she s caught on to that and will often toss the back up Bunny before evicting the one she s holding A few days ago when attempting to have her nap I gave her Bunny like always and took a blanket bear that s a similar concept to Bunny It didn t go well This is what happens when you throw something away without evaluating the consequences It seems that both Bunny and the bear have big heads that do not easily slip between the bars of the crib Poor poor Bunny If you have seen a Bunny like ours please let me know I m trying to track down one that s exactly the same The brand is Blankets and Beyond for Carter He does not have a rattle inside his head and his blanket is pink and his head is white with pink on the underside of his ears We have a couple blanket bunnies that are similar but I would really really like to get another exact copy 1 Comment ThrowbackThursday come ride with me Posted on January 9 2014 by Virginia Posted in 2013 Family Nostalgic Throwback Thursday Because it s still early January in my opinion at least I m compelled to share this photo for ThrowbackThursday Grandma and Papa Radford It s my favourite photo of my paternal grandparents Grandma s birthday was January 3 and every year I think of her this year was no different Her birthday was always the final party for my father s family during the holidays My father is one of three children so they each took a day to host Christmas Eve Boxing Day and Grandma s birthday Grandma s birthday was our evening to have everyone over and it was a nice way to finish off the holidays This photo was taken before I was born during a family trip to Disney World that involved my grandparents my parents and brother and my uncle Dad s brother aunt and their three children There s just something about this photo that I love It s a casual in the moment photo Something you can t catch if you try too hard And this was back in the late 1970s so there was no digital cheating or retaking available At first glance I feel like the photo is from an old movie I imagine Papa is a smooth talking stranger who happens to notice Grandma and starts chatting her up Imagine what they were discussing The weather What to eat for lunch Reflecting on how nice it was to be on vacation with some of their children and grandchildren Who knows My grandfather passed away when I was only four years old so my memories of him are very limited I really only have two that I can recall and even those are pretty fuzzy but I cherish them My grandmother was a tough o l bird and someone you didn t mess with She

temples have sent their Buddhas to wish her happy birthday it s obviously more complex and spiritual than that Amazing Virginia Cross posted to our GSE blog Up up and away Posted on March 1 2012 Posted in Uncategorized St John s to Toronto As I write this I m on the first of three flights before arriving in Taipei The Group Study Exchange traveling to the other side of the world It s all much more real now Yeah I know it s about time right Thank heavens I took yesterday off from work to finalize packing and take care of some last minute things Even with that bit of extra time I really needed a lot more I didn t really sleep last night and instead took an hour and a half nap I m overtired right now but am hoping and planning to do the bulk of my sleeping on the flight from Toronto to Tokyo We leave around 12 pm which is almost a full 12 hour difference with Taiwan If I can sleep on the front end of that 15 hour flight I ll begin the challenge of resetting my biological clock on the right foot But obviously I m not expecting to sleep for a solid 15 hours I don t think I ve ever slept for that long Even when I was an infant I ve taken a quick look through the available movies I m thinking it s been far too long since I watched Who Framed Roger Rabbit And Amelie is still one of my favourite movies Haven t had a chance to see Bad Teacher yet either Add a little carpe diem to your 2012 Posted on December 31 2011 Posted in Uncategorized A lot has happened over the past 12 14 months for Matt and I We considered including a little newsletter update in our holiday cards this year but didn t really have time to make that happen As a compromise we wanted to do a quick video update that could be shared with friends and family especially those who live in different parts of the country and beyond But again there s been a lack of time to make such an endeavour happen Instead I m here to encourage everyone not feel pressured into setting goals that are driven by guilt trips It drives me nuts that the bulk of advertising right now focuses around weight loss kicking bad habits like smoking and dating did you know that eHarmony is free this weekend After the 50th time I saw their ad I think I got the memo Continue reading I want to read about I want to read about Select Category 2009 1 2010 12 2011 21 2012 34 2013 76 2014 11 2015 9 2016 1 Aikido 1 Baby 52 Birthday 6 blog 12 Bobble head Ted 1 books 8 Bull Pond 3 Canada Day 5 Cascade 220 2 CCME 1 Comics Images 4 communication 6

around 8 00 p m I was greeted by this image Perhaps such a sight would have gone unnoticed most days but images and news of the TTC have littered my brain lately From the upcoming fair hike recent subway delays during peak morning rush hour to the decrease of pleasant street car drivers I can only swallow so much What boggles me is that this wasn t the only set of garbage bins in the area but it was by far the worst of the lot The TTC touts that it s the better way for commuters to travel within the City Yet like many commuters I am more and more frustrated by a service I cannot improve Sure I can call and make complaints but many unpleasant experiences happen while I m en route to work or even just traveling from point one place to another By the time I reach my destination I m often too busy to give a complaint or I m feeling too jaded and cynical to believe someone will hear my voice In a past ad campaign the TTC urged riders to clean up after themselves on the subway showing images of a man looking like a pig after leaving a mess yet can the TTC not clean up after its own mess Surely they can find a better way to address this problem Leave a comment Apologies Posted on August 26 2007 by Virginia Posted in Uncategorized I must first apologize for the long silence that has occurred in this space I will simply say that a lot of things have happened life itself has been flying past me and I believe I ve caught up or I m at least nipping at its heels I have many things to discuss and hope to do so in time One significant change my name On July 7 or well known as 07 07 07 I married Matthew and now I am Virginia Middleton The name change has required some adjusting and I still slip when introducing myself sometimes But these things come in time Hopefully if you re reading this you ll return and you will soon see something new to read and or view Until then Virginia Middleton Leave a comment Technology besmirched Posted on February 21 2007 by Virginia Posted in communication technology Wedding Last Sunday my fiancé Matt and I went to The Bay to update our bridal registry Now before you leave me for another website or start thinking why do I care there is a point to this entry technology cannot replace good communication During a fall bridal show in Toronto we initially set up our registry with The Bay It was explained that we should add a few things to our list at the show and could come in to a Bay store and update it regularly Simple enough yes On Sunday we arrived for our appointment met with an associate and she discussed the full details of the bridal registry It all sounded fine and we were happy with now smoothly things were moving The associate provided us with a scanner and we felt like official inventory jockeys as we were set free in the store to scan our hearts out Here s where things get tricky A copy of our list from the bridal show was printed off and we decided to recheck all of the items since so much time had passed After going through over two pages of items we decided to cross off everything except for one glass bowel After an hour and a half of our scanning adventure we were ready to turn in our machine and go home A different associate received our information and we tried to explain that our old list from the bridal show was no longer valid only wanting one item from it and that everything ON THAT LIST should be deleted We made reference to our new list that was on the scanner as items we wanted to keep With these explanations we felt the appointment went well Yesterday I went online to check on the registry Because it would take a day or so for the list to update and go online I thought I d take a peek Guess what As it stands for our wedding on July 7 2007 our 150 200 attendees can fight over who is giving us 1 DIAMOND FIRE PLATTER 14 by MIKASA Remember that ONE item we kept from the old list After speaking with a manager to find out why our list was so bare I soon discovered that communication and information sharing is very important when technology is involved The scanner that we used is actually a virtual device that scans in real time and instantly adds items into the main database where our registry is stored Therefore when we told the associate we wanted to delete everything from our old list expect this one item we deleted much more than what we intended As of yesterday all items on the scanner were lost and deleted along with everything previously scanned last fall Perhaps both Matt and I assumed too much Having both worked in retail while in post secondary schools a lot of price file and inventory verification devices we used were not in real time and required you to download your information or at least sync it up with a computer so that numbers were crunched and inventory details created Yesterday afternoon I was very distressed by the situation We had wasted two hours of our busy weekend AND we found ourselves trying to figure out how quickly we could go and rescan everything ASAP Matt s aunt is having an engagement party for us next month and she suggested we try to finalize our list at The Bay so that any family or friends attending the festivities could possibly purchase something on the list This makes a lot of sense and hence
