back into the habit Any suggestions and tips you have on how to pull this off is really appreciated I d like to blog something of interest at least once a month Maybe some low hanging fruit could be a quarterly update on how these goals are progressing Hmm 5 Learn more In 2016 I want to explore and set up some professional development options at work I ve been speaking with my communications manager and the HR manager in our faculty and we re going to talk about some different ideas and areas to focus on One program I ve started setting into motion is the mentoring program that s available which I predict will be really interesting Lenses for my iPhone 6 Photo more I love taking photos I have a SLR camera that while it isn t the latest and greatest product from Canon it can take some nice photos I also have an iPhone 5s that takes great photos as well in fact most of our annual photo calendar s photos came from photos taken exclusively from my phone I m tempted to try to pull off a daily photo challenge Nothing fancy just post one photo a day that I take with my phone I even have some fancy new little lenses that I can attached to my phone that Matt gave me for Christmas 7 Purge more Bags of clothes that I KM d Months ago I started following the KonMari Method to help organize our home I managed to get rid of over 160 lbs of clothes not to mention a lot of shoes and purses But I haven t really reorganized the clothes I still have and we haven t really started the next category books yet because I m stuck feeling like I need to have my clothes figured out So here we go I want to complete the KM process by Dec 31 2016 That 366 days and if we actually put aside some time and approach it strategically I think it s something we can do 8 No more I m not very good at saying no I ve always been something who tries to be enthusiastic whenever trying to accomplish a task project or outcome But as evidence of my lack of saying no I haven t always been able to put myself first and say no to other people so that I could say yes to myself and do things for me I need to make some tough decisions with my volunteer commitments and there are some other things I need to start saying no to when responding With more nos maybe I can accomplish the seven goals above with greater ease This is a fairly lofty list but with some planning and motivation I really think it s possible to work on all eight of these areas What do you think Any tips hints or advice Are you going to try to do more or less

running yet I ve started calling her Monkey Face because of the things she s trying to climb or manages to get into I should have some examples to share soon Stay tuned Next week One year how did the past 12 months fly by so quickly Mommy Musing Monday sniffles and sneezes Posted on February 3 2014 Posted in 2014 Baby Musing Monday NL Parenting It s been a busy few days Not because of social engagements or volunteer commitments although both are often enough to keep us going No instead we ve been dealing with teething of the molar variety and some sort of viral thing that s left Missy Moo feeling pretty miserable Continue reading Mommy Musing Monday Do you Know the Muffin Mom Posted on January 27 2014 Posted in 2014 Baby Food Musing Monday Parenting I m going to try and post more recipes that I m cooking baking for Missy Moo Most of the recipes are perfectly fine for us adults to have the only real difference I ve noticed is that they often have less sugar and while there are often some tasty flavours there isn t anything too crazy or spicy For the most part we give little miss some of whatever we re eating But on days when we re having spicy Thai curry or something she may not be ready to sample we re trying out some new things Oh and don t for a minute think that I m making everything she eats There are some great pre made stuff that s convenient and not completely terrible as in there aren t a lot of of preservatives and there are littler or no chemicals So if you re not making things for your little one don t feel bad I m confident it will not traumatize them and leave them full of hostility when they re adults Continue reading Mommy Musing Monday Just Roll With it Posted on January 20 2014 Posted in 2013 Baby Family Musing Monday Parenting Parents are often their own worst critic Whether it s mommy guilt paranoia of what strangers think or having someone you know roll their eyes because of some quirky parenting thing that works for your family But sometimes you re in a situation and just roll with it Now what I m about to describe is by no means epic or something to be documented for the ages but it s something I ll remember and it ll probably happen again and again A couple of weeks ago Missy Moo and I had a pretty busy Friday She managed to have a short morning map but it was clear she was still a very tired baby Continue reading I want to read about I want to read about Select Category 2009 1 2010 12 2011 21 2012 34 2013 76 2014 11 2015 9 2016 1 Aikido 1 Baby 52 Birthday 6 blog 12 Bobble head Ted 1 books 8

one in a back corner of the crib but she s caught on to that and will often toss the back up Bunny before evicting the one she s holding A few days ago when attempting to have her nap I gave her Bunny like always and took a blanket bear that s a similar concept to Bunny It didn t go well This is what happens when you throw something away without evaluating the consequences It seems that both Bunny and the bear have big heads that do not easily slip between the bars of the crib Poor poor Bunny If you have seen a Bunny like ours please let me know I m trying to track down one that s exactly the same The brand is Blankets and Beyond for Carter He does not have a rattle inside his head and his blanket is pink and his head is white with pink on the underside of his ears We have a couple blanket bunnies that are similar but I would really really like to get another exact copy ThrowbackThursday come ride with me Posted on January 9 2014 Posted in 2013 Family Nostalgic Throwback Thursday Because it s still early January in my opinion at least I m compelled to share this photo for ThrowbackThursday Grandma and Papa Radford It s my favourite photo of my paternal grandparents Grandma s birthday was January 3 and every year I think of her this year was no different Her birthday was always the final party for my father s family during the holidays My father is one of three children so they each took a day to host Christmas Eve Boxing Day and Grandma s birthday Grandma s birthday was our evening to have everyone over and it was a nice way to finish off the holidays This photo was taken before I was born during a family trip to Disney World that involved my grandparents my parents and brother and my uncle Dad s brother aunt and their three children There s just something about this photo that I love It s a casual in the moment photo Something you can t catch if you try too hard And this was back in the late 1970s so there was no digital cheating or retaking available At first glance I feel like the photo is from an old movie I imagine Papa is a smooth talking stranger who happens to notice Grandma and starts chatting her up Imagine what they were discussing The weather What to eat for lunch Reflecting on how nice it was to be on vacation with some of their children and grandchildren Who knows My grandfather passed away when I was only four years old so my memories of him are very limited I really only have two that I can recall and even those are pretty fuzzy but I cherish them My grandmother was a tough o l bird and someone you didn t mess

station on the north side yesterday at around 8 00 p m I was greeted by this image Perhaps such a sight would have gone unnoticed most days but images and news of the TTC have littered my brain lately From the upcoming fair hike recent subway delays during peak morning rush hour to the decrease of pleasant street car drivers I can only swallow so much What boggles me is that this wasn t the only set of garbage bins in the area but it was by far the worst of the lot The TTC touts that it s the better way for commuters to travel within the City Yet like many commuters I am more and more frustrated by a service I cannot improve Sure I can call and make complaints but many unpleasant experiences happen while I m en route to work or even just traveling from point one place to another By the time I reach my destination I m often too busy to give a complaint or I m feeling too jaded and cynical to believe someone will hear my voice In a past ad campaign the TTC urged riders to clean up after themselves on the subway showing images of a man looking like a pig after leaving a mess yet can the TTC not clean up after its own mess Surely they can find a better way to address this problem Apologies Posted on August 26 2007 Posted in Uncategorized I must first apologize for the long silence that has occurred in this space I will simply say that a lot of things have happened life itself has been flying past me and I believe I ve caught up or I m at least nipping at its heels I have many things to discuss and hope to do so in time One significant change my name On July 7 or well known as 07 07 07 I married Matthew and now I am Virginia Middleton The name change has required some adjusting and I still slip when introducing myself sometimes But these things come in time Hopefully if you re reading this you ll return and you will soon see something new to read and or view Until then Virginia Middleton Technology besmirched Posted on February 21 2007 Posted in communication technology Wedding Last Sunday my fiancé Matt and I went to The Bay to update our bridal registry Now before you leave me for another website or start thinking why do I care there is a point to this entry technology cannot replace good communication During a fall bridal show in Toronto we initially set up our registry with The Bay It was explained that we should add a few things to our list at the show and could come in to a Bay store and update it regularly Simple enough yes On Sunday we arrived for our appointment met with an associate and she discussed the full details of the bridal registry It all sounded fine and we were happy with now smoothly things were moving The associate provided us with a scanner and we felt like official inventory jockeys as we were set free in the store to scan our hearts out Here s where things get tricky A copy of our list from the bridal show was printed off and we decided to recheck all of the items since so much time had passed After going through over two pages of items we decided to cross off everything except for one glass bowel After an hour and a half of our scanning adventure we were ready to turn in our machine and go home A different associate received our information and we tried to explain that our old list from the bridal show was no longer valid only wanting one item from it and that everything ON THAT LIST should be deleted We made reference to our new list that was on the scanner as items we wanted to keep With these explanations we felt the appointment went well Yesterday I went online to check on the registry Because it would take a day or so for the list to update and go online I thought I d take a peek Guess what As it stands for our wedding on July 7 2007 our 150 200 attendees can fight over who is giving us 1 DIAMOND FIRE PLATTER 14 by MIKASA Remember that ONE item we kept from the old list After speaking with a manager to find out why our list was so bare I soon discovered that communication and information sharing is very important when technology is involved The scanner that we used is actually a virtual device that scans in real time and instantly adds items into the main database where our registry is stored Therefore when we told the associate we wanted to delete everything from our old list expect this one item we deleted much more than what we intended As of yesterday all items on the scanner were lost and deleted along with everything previously scanned last fall Perhaps both Matt and I assumed too much Having both worked in retail while in post secondary schools a lot of price file and inventory verification devices we used were not in real time and required you to download your information or at least sync it up with a computer so that numbers were crunched and inventory details created Yesterday afternoon I was very distressed by the situation We had wasted two hours of our busy weekend AND we found ourselves trying to figure out how quickly we could go and rescan everything ASAP Matt s aunt is having an engagement party for us next month and she suggested we try to finalize our list at The Bay so that any family or friends attending the festivities could possibly purchase something on the list This makes a lot of sense and hence our sense of

of Percy Jackson series Both were easy but really fun reads Run the Tely 10 again Major success I can t help but be really proud of my Tely 10 run this year Not only did I run again but I was able to beat last year s time by over three minutes I did actually train this year which probably helped a lot and it was great to have such an nice summer so that I could pop Missy Moo into our jogging stroller and then run on the trails near our house I also enjoyed using the Run Keeper app on my phone which helped me to keep track of my pace distance and time This year s success has only inspired me to reach much higher next year details to come Unpack boxes from Toronto Sort of As I referenced to last year we moved from Toronto and back to The Rock in September 2010 And in my defence it was a somewhat fast move and we had to pack during a really busy few weeks it was chaotic to say the least While I did manage to get through a lot of our stuff there are still a number of boxes that need our attention Some of those boxes that were packed mere minutes before the movers arrived and are lacking any order or logic as to what s in them We ve been in our current home for almost three years I think it s about time we get through the last of those boxes Maybe in 2014 Sort gut childhood boxes NOPE EPIC FAIL Let s just not even talk about this one there was a whole lot of epic fail on my part I think I actually made things worse because I boxed up all of my non maternity clothes and now I need to dig them all out because I m just about back to my pre pregnancy weight a good thing but there s a lot of clothing purging ahead methinks All the same I m going to give myself a break on this one because taking care of a baby a very active one at that does actually take up a lot of time So there s always next year right Edit and sort photos FAIL This simple sounding yet rather mammoth goal was no where near met But it was primarily due to the lack of technology available My old Acer laptop that I ve had since 2007 is on it s last legs and in now way was able to do what s needed to really reorganize and purge my many many photos that are stored on multiple drives And while I started doing a photo a day in January it didn t last Maybe some other year I ll give it a while but not in 2014 I have more important things I want to focus on So there were mixed results for 2013 but overall I

so tired I stare off into space look The next thing we knew she started to lean to once side and her eyes just shut There she was deep sleep Alright this isn t a big deal right Actually it was pretty funny See what I mean Now maybe that should have been a hint that we had been out long enough and should be heading home I looked at the time are realized it was well past the window where little miss has an afternoon nap although lately she s been fighting them something fierce so they don t always happen Ugh Mom and I just laughed and figured it was better to keep shopping and let her sleep as long as we could because once we left the store she would definitely wake up Again I realize this doesn t seem like a big deal but the optics were a little off putting at times Mom and I joked that we were Mom and Grandmother of the Year material I mean look at the poor thing half slumped out of the cart She was obviously so exhausted she didn t care where sleep happened Complete strangers who were also shopping made a number of comments and a couple asked what isle were the babies found in I ve since had a few friends and family say they ve had this happen It was a first for Miss but I m OK with it occurring again if it means she can get a power nap while I deal with something I guess I felt a little self consciousness because it drew attention to us I doubt anyone really cared but there was a little voice in the back of my head saying How bad does this look You should be home so that your baby is getting a proper nap Way to shag up her sleep just you can get a few things that aren t critical Silly I know I m willing to bet more people were amused than critical Because we ve been struggling with naps lately I suppose I m a little more sensitive to their necessity If Missy Moo doesn t get her naps in no one is happy about it I have some mommy guilt over the fact that I don t take her out to playgroups and organized activities all the time But to honest it s often just easier to stay home We only have one car so it means I have to pack her up and drive Matt to work Up until a month ago she was usually taking her morning nap right when he would be leaving for work So if I was getting the car she would fall asleep in the car for maybe 20 minutes max and then wake up once we returned home Then she wouldn t even consider napping again until the afternoon but that would be a struggle because she was already starting the mid
